I hate scales!

either they get your hope up or crush it!

get this i have this scale i was using and it said i was down to like 240 and my sister just bought this new electronic scale and it says i'm at 264 :eek:

if that isn't harsh truth i don't know WHAT is!

any suggestions on how i can put it into overdrive and lose weight faster?

I've been trying to stick to this high Protein Diet my family's on (trying because the Warped Tour threw off my cycle) and walking/running and SOME weight lifting
 
Take a scale reading with a grain of salt. That being said, the more accurate the scale the better. Old, spring scales can be inaccurate. If you don't step on them evenly, you could throw off the weight. Test it, stand on a spring scale. If you shift your weight to the right, you will look like you weigh more; the opposite holds true if you shift your weight to the left.

But in terms of scale readings, your weight will fluctuate. Try to use it more for consistency.

Eat a more balanced diet too. A lot of protein is great, but you'll still need good carbs.
 
i recommend staying away from scales. Some people will gain 2 lbs of muscle and lose 2 lbs of fat and the scale won't move so they get discouraged.

but if you have to buy one, the old saying "you get what you pay for" is correct. The brand Tanita makes a decent scale with a body fat % anaylzer. This scale is not 100% accurate but if you drop some body fat, the scale will show it which should be enough to signal progress.

well thats part of it cause you're allowed like 400 carbs or somethin' like that...but like the "good" carbs...which i'm not sure what those are lol

good carbs are those found in fruits, veggies, etc..

bad carbs are those found in white bread, rice, pasta, etc..
 
Good carbs would be whole grains. If you like bread, get some good whole grain (not whole wheat b/c that's different) that has a high fiber count--at least 4grams per slice, 6grams is even better.

Try to stay away from eating a lot of starchy veggies like corn, carrots, peas. Brocolli, cauliflower, spinach, zucchini, summer squash are great veggies to eat b/c they are low-carb/starch, packed with vitamins, and very low-cal as well.

Scales suck, I know. I have two that never say the same thing. So i picked one, and that's what I use. I find the scale at my gym is usually a pound or two higher than mine at home. Oh well. I wouldn't worry about it too much. The best thing is to just use one scale to guage yourself like I do. Then you won't have conflicting numbers, and if your scale says you weigh 6lbs less than you did the last time you weighed yourself on that same scale, then you lost six lbs, regardless of what the other scales say.

Basically, good carbs are complex carbs that takes a long time for your body to break down. Simple carbs are those that your body can break down rather easily and fast. Thats the basic summary of it...of course it's more complicated then that.

Yeah, a large signature image adds about 5 lb, or so I have read.

Scales can indeed suck though, my current set sometimes lock into a weight, and sort of snap to this weight for a few days. I can even do things like compare clothed to unclothed and they don't change.
