Weight-Loss I HATE salad!!!

Weight-Loss
I hated salads by themselves too, until I had one at Olive Garden. Oftentimes, it just means putting in stuff that YOU like. :)
A good alternative is whole wheat wraps or sandwiches with a good lean protein and tons of veggies.

What is it you hate about salad?

The fact that it's a sad lettuce leaf and watery tomato?
Take a look at other salad veg - e.g. unusual greens, sweet pepper, a few pine nuts

Because it's vegetable?
Eat fruit.

Because it's cold and wet? (Yuck, now I don't like salad!)
Cook your veg as a stir fry and serve hot and delicious.

Because things have to be washed and chopped?
Yes, but that's true of all veg, so give the salad break.

I think the word "salad" has unappetising childhood associations and we need to find a new word for it.

Happy eating!

if you don't like salad don't eat salad... whats the problem...

there a million things you can eat besides salad...

go thru the recipes forum... google...

I love a tossed green salad...it's just not really a low cal option unless you can do fat free salad dressing and there are not many that are palatable.

My BF thought he hated salads until he ate one of mine. I can put together a truly scrumptious salad. The only problem is it's not very calorie conscious.....

I can have a baked potato for fewer calories than you'll find in a tossed green salad served at my house. :(

yeah im not a salad person myself, but i found i dont need to eat it much anyway. and if i do decide to punish myself i just put things in that i like that make it taste good (ie cashews, fruit bits, sauces or light mayos)

I don't eat salads too often because I have problems digesting raw vegetables. I love cooked veggies and eat them at just about every meal. Life is too short to eat things you hate or that give you tummy trouble.

Then how about soups, steamed veges, roasted veges, grilled veges and lean meats. That sort of thing.

Otherwise you could get really creative with your salads and add nuts, yummy dressings, a little warm brown rice, a little cous cous, that sort of thing.

I hate hate hate salad!!! What are some healthy things to eat that do not involve salad!

I love salads. :) But if you are sticking with the typical iceberg lettuce, that gets boring quickly.

I've read some other weight loss blogs the past few days and I've noticed that I am a very simple eater. I read about people eating grilled chicken for lunch and all sorts of things. Me? I eat cereal, fruits, vegetables, a little meat, an occasional pizza or some Asian food if I get some takeout. If I make it myself, I don't put much effort into it. I can't justify spending 30 minutes making myself something that only takes 10 minutes to eat.

Personally, I think portion control is more important than what you eat. If I get a big Asian meal, I'll divide it up into three meals instead of stuffing myself.

I generally eat what I want. And I eat no more than it takes to satisfy the hunger.

Losing weight is tough enough without making yourself miserable by eating foods you don't like. Eat smaller, but eat the things that satisfy your hunger and that you enjoy. Don't like salads? Find something else. Just eat small portions.

I, too, detest salad. At least, iceburg.

I LOVE baby spinach!!! Throw in a little cheese, some shrimp and a boiled egg with a low cal dressing and it ain't too bad. Just don't eat so many of them that you absolutely cannot stand the food!

salad is any mixture of ingrediants, it doesnt always mean just lettuce, or even a particular kind of lettuce.
Dont forget seafood salads, fruit salads, pasta salads etc :)

i love salad, the only problem is that it doesnt fill me up, and im hungry 20 min later.....so then i eat somthing really heavy and calorie dense and there goes my diet! I've been told that veggie salads are weight loss gold, and if you stick to just veggies mainly, you should have no problem dropping the pounds. I eat turkey breast on 100% whole wheat (no HFCS) bread with half piece of provolone or a full piece if its low fat, dijon mustard, and i stack it high (about an inch) with rommaine lettuce............very good, and quite filling....

Any salad involving lettuce makes me gag.

It's the texture...I chew on the lettuce and my saliva mixed in with the moisture of the ingredients instantly makes me gag :ack2:

I had a really awesome salad last weekend, it was chick peas and sundried tomatoes. It contained chick peas, sundried tomatoes (duh), raisins, sliced almonds and a tomato pesto dressing. Man was it delicious.

I tried making some at home and put together chickpeas, sundried tomatoes, dried cranberries, sliced almonds and balsamic vinaigrette. It tasted similar obviously, but the sweet and tart of the dried cranberries was a nice pairing with the chick peas. The raisins were awesome, but they were just all sweetness. Chickpeas taste nice with something a little sour in them.

I agree... I like balsamic vinegar in my chickpeas!

I love it when a salad's a whole meal, carbs, protein and fat, perfect!

have you tried different lettuces? iceberg lettuce to me is absolutely revolting... and tehre are some others that just remind me of weeds... but romaine has some crunch (it's even good grilled) and spinach is also good...

youc an also do a chopped salad witih tomatoes, cucumbers, any colorful vegetable that strikes your fancy - (doing it in layers in a glass bowl like a cobb salad is also pretty...

But - like i think i said -no one said that people have to like salad or even eat salad... there's plenty of other things to eat - eat what you like and like what you eat..
