I get it and Im ready: Need Help

After 37 Years of inactivity, I finally get it. The increasing gut and wieght (259 lbs and 45 in waist) was kinda hard to ignore.

Im ready to do what needs to be done: eat right and excercise. I just wanted to say ive tried all the other take a pill and loose weight, buy this belt and it will melt the fat etc.

Ive got the healthy eating part but need advice on what to do for cardio and weight training.

Check out the HITT section at the bottom of this forum. Here is a good link for developing a weight training routine. Good Luck and welcome!

First of all, welcome. Secondly, after 37 years of inactivity, be sure you begin your exercise program (cardio and weights) real slowly and use proper form on all weight training exercises. I know that may sound like obvious advice, but some newbies like to jump in and try to lift as much as they possibly can, do way too many sets and reps, etc. Take it slowly, learn proper form, eat well, drink lots of water, get proper rest. At this stage I wouldn't be too concernered about HIIT, it is way advanced for you.

Did your doctor give you an okay to do this?

B/c that was my kick in the pants. At 41 I also had a forty inch waist and forty five inch hips. I started pretty small.

Small meals, but high in nutrition. Regular exercise - a video each morning for strength and toning and cardio every other night.

See my diary on this site!

Ditto on the doc idea. If you have been inactive for this long..........get checked out and cleared for activity....BEFORE you have a heart attack.

Thank you all for the feedback. i did get a full physical, and im happy to report im still relatively healthy. but i intend to start slow. I bought a bike and i now ride the 3.5 miles to and from work.

i intend to make this a slow steady journey. thanks again.
