I feel so good about my food choices right now!

I'm eating breakfast. I decided to make my own healthy oatmeal instead of making the prepackaged stuff with loads of sugar in it.

I have rolled oats, a scoop of sprouted flax meal, milk and honey in it.

Honey + Oats are the best thing ever. I had some this morning. It was good.

Good for you, SP. Feed ,appropriately, your inner-being and outward expression will follow feeding it more.

Oatmeal ROCKS! GREAT JOB, young lady!

OK if I can interject here :D I don't get whats wrong with instant if it doesn't have sugar?? For example I have Organic Instant Oatmeal: Ingre: Organic Rolled Oats is all it says.

Nutrition info: 150 cals per serving (40g) per serv.
fat-2.5g
carbs-27g
Fiber-4g
Sugar- less then 1g
Protein-6g

If I remembered correctly, instant oatmeal are usually cut different than rolled oats so that it can cook faster.

Basically rolled oats provide the needed carbs, and fiber balance. Instant usually have added things, whereas rolled oats don't.

I don't think there's any problem with plain instant oatmeal. I think it's exactly the same as slow cooking except that (as Dallen mentioned) it's been cut thinner in order to cook faster. I use it cuz I usually add hot water to it from a water cooler at work rather than cook it on a stove/micro.

I love eating carrots for some reason.

I like biting off the stuff around the centre bit, and then eating the centre bit, it's awesome.

okay. I believe the topic was oatmeal; not carrot. Make your own carrot thread....

The only oatmeal I have is the processed ones with like 10, 11 grams of sugar. The apple cinnimin one is good.

I just made oatmeal today and here is my little recipe:

1/2 cup dry oatmeal and 2.3x the water or 1 1/3 cups

after that's made add
1/5 apple cut in teeny tiny squares
a sprinkling of cinnamon
a tiny bit (1 tsp) brown sugar
milk to taste.

it's so good, I can't wait to get up in the morning and try this again! I just discovered it today!

I can't stand packet oatmeal...it's too much of everything including sugar! I can't stand sugary stuff!

ooh, and I had some blueberries laying around and added those.

Oh, and I feel good about yer food choices too ;)

I may have had a healthy breakfast, but I totally blew it today. I went out on date today and we got cold stone. God, that is the sweetest ice cream I've ever had! Then I went several hours without eating anything and then had pizza and iced tea with lemonade in it, and it was the stuff from the soda fountain which means: HFCS the evil corn sweetener. I had a nice late night snack though. An Avocado and some fruit salad.

I promise, no more corn syrup. I'll have a fresh start tomorrow.

For some reason, it's so hard to eat healthy on dates. I'm not too sure why though.

Yep that's true. I've thought about this too. Maybe I don't want her to think I'm a no-fun health freak :p? Or, maybe I'm just out having fun and being caught up in the moment, so I don't want to worry too much about food. Anyways, I pretty much save all my cheat meals for dates and occasions like that, so I don't stress about it.

It is hard. Hell, I've been with my woman for a year, and it still is hard when we go out. For me, it's just that I don't want to go out to a nice restaurant and get some steamed veggies and some ****ty chicken breast. A nice juicy steak with carmelized onions and a loaded potato just sound so much better. :D

OK, I should have expanded. A nice juicy, 14 ounce steak, with a big potato with cheese, and onions that most likely were grilled in butter. :D

Point is, if you can't live it up when you go out, what's the point in living at all!

Last night I had like a grilled 8oz T-Bone steak, tons of broccoli and carrots, a slice of bread, baked sweet potato, and a side of salad. Beat that.
