I feel like I could do more

I am 6'1 and 230 and goal weight is around 170 or so since people said that was a healthy weight? I don't see how though.

I don't have access to a gym and I want to lose close to 60 pounds by the end of July

Only thing I have that is available around the house are 2x 20 pound weights and 1 10 pound weigh (dumbells or whatever)

I current do:

running/jogging

crunches

situps

squats

and mountain climbers

current diet is 500 calories a day which usually just contains like yogurt/fruit and salad

and just a lot of water

Most of the weight is focused on my thighs and stomach area, and I am aware that I can't focus where I want the fat to be burned first but I'd imagine exercises that focuses on those areas will tone it up moreso. What other exercises could I be doing to work on my thighs and stomach/chest?

You could be eating a healthy amount of food, instead of 500 calories.

Seriously.

Double what you eat. You'll lose weight faster, and you won't binge when you're done dieting... Oh, and add some protein in there.

You're not dieting a healthy way. If 230 is your start weight, you can lose weight and will look awesome when you are through just by reducing your caloric intake (TO A HEALTHY LEVEL -- 500 is not healthy for anybody). and doing running/jogging walking and whatever else you are doing.

If all you have are 20 pound weights do Air bicycles (Abs yay), crunches, squats (for sexy butt loll), Lunges (oh yah butttt) -- do some curls and hammers for arms and throw in some Dips for triceps (you can probably find counters around your house you can do Dips at -- or find a park with those gymnast bar things).

I'm being completely honest. If your start weight is 230 pounds and you do this the right way (as in, you eat protein at an acceptable calorie level, which is probably something like 1500 for you), you will have the body youve always wanted. If you do it this 500 calorie way, you will probably quit before you reach your goal and just feel weak and tired.

Not going to lie -- I would do anything (now) to have started at 230 pounds rather than what I started at. It will be really easy for your body to adjust and look normal (normalcy is all I want, personally) -- but you can do it the right way and have some awesome beach bod.

Use what you got and make it work. But DO NOT DO 500 CALORIES A DAY.

Yeah but I want to be able to have the needed weight gone before the summer is over. So... and I do crunches and squats and lunges ;/

Be careful with slimming pills. And do eat more. I used to eat only about 500 calories a day and ended up losing virtually nothing and feeling really bad.

Last few months I have been following a diet plan and excercise regime here in Spain with a consultant and bootcamp trainer, then I went to the England for a two week vacation at a weightloss bootcamp place in Somerset. Can't rate it highly enough, lost so much weight and helped tone up my body. Eating in the right quantities and being taught what and how to do things has transformed me. Now determined to shift the last 20lb. Its changed my life completely. Really recommend these guys in Spain and England, kind, firm but gentle and get results that you want. Always got time for you and really worked on my mental attitude to food. Also got to say the UK part was amazing, not only did I lose loads of pounds but they also took me on amazing trips to awesome old English places with lunch or dinner at restaurants, all prepared especially for us. Happy to give info on them if anyones interested.

Good luck with your weight loss, just go easy on pills and up your intake.

I haven't actually read through this whole thread in detail but I have to say that eating 500 calories per day will do nothing but backfire on you. There is really no argument even needed. Sorry, it's just common sense.

60 pounds by the end of July would put you at about 1 pound per day weight loss - 3 pounds per week is much healthier. You can certainly keep starving yourself and working out like a madman but I'm going to suggest you could end up getting injured to do overstressing an undernourished body. Which could just lead to frustration, and quitting due to injury or inability to keep starving yourself, then yo-yoing to higher than the original 230 lbs.

Eat tons of raw fresh cut up veggies, and gorge on lean protein and protein shakes (mixed with juice and frozen fruit - not milk) and you'll burn fat really fast, and feel great while doing that.

Good luck :)

I understand the "I want it off now" way of thinking, but it really isn't good!!! Give yourself time to develop an active lifestyle and a healthy way of eating. It is the only way to ensure that you will keep it off!! Quick fixes are never lasting!!! Think about tape on a leaking pipe. It works fine temporarily, but it doesn't last, right? I'm pretty sure what you really want is to keep the weight off. If giving the choice between getting 60 lbs off by this summer and then gaining 80 lbs back versus losing 60 lbs over a year and keeping it off for the rest of your life, you would choose the slower weight loss, right? I am guessing that you are thinking, "I can lose 60 lbs quick and then keep it off." Well, you would probably be the first person to ever do that. As a nurse, I see many, many gastric bypass patients that lose then gain back because they never changed their lifestyle or dealt with what led them to food as comfort in the first place!!

I would encourage you to make your goal more like..."I want to be in better shape for next summer." This is an obtainable goal that doesn't set you up for failure!!!

I wish you all the best.
