I don't understand people sometimes..

I was at my friend's house the other night (she lives right next door!) because she was having a party. A good majority of the people were my really good/close friends. I hid my purse behind the couch just to be safe though. Well...at the end of the night, when I was about to walk home, my purse was M.I.A.!!!

I ended up having to go across town and sleep on my friend's futon because I could not get into my house (keys in my purse).

So, the next day I get an email alert from my bank stating irregular account activity, so I call my bank to find out what the deal is. Apparently, that night at 3 a.m., someone tried to put $419 dollars on my bank card at a Stop & Shop!!!

Luckily the store has cameras, so I filed a police report and I will get to view the recording from the store that night. The manager said it was a few kids who there trying to use my card.

I would understand someone taking cash out of my purse, but why the whole thing??

My coach purse, coach wallet, car keys, house keys, drivers license, school ID, health insurance cards, AAA card, my fake IDs (expensive!), $80 cash, debit card, plus small items like chapstick etc...

If I ever saw someone or a friend doing this, I would stop them. I really don't get people sometimes...seriously, my car keys??h

just ranting :) Anyone have theft stories???

I've had my credit card number stolen twice. It wouldn't have been too bad, but it was stolen twice within the span of about a month, so I had to get a new card and bank account two times.

One time my friend was having a CHARITY party and someone stole his ipod ($250). He was pretty upset but a day later he got a package on his doorstep. In it was his ipod, a note apologizing for taking it and $100 cash for his troubles.

Certain situations make me lose faith and others give it back. Sorry to hear your purse was stolen, hopefully everything works out for you in the end. It may be frustrating when it happens, but at least you're alive and well :)

I was at Walmart and I dunno where it is exactly that I misplaced my phone, it was either in one of the bathroom stalls, the shoe shelves or the dressingroom. Anyways, I looked all over the store, retraced my steps and went to the service desk to see if anyone would bring it in.

It was a crappy phone, the back was falling off and was taped together. But I had pictures in there, all my contacts, and video/sound clips of a concert I had gone to previously and hadn't uploaded into my comp. Not to mention little notes I keep to myself.

Basically my phone was my life. I filed a police report but they acted so indifferent about it and dismissed it as if it were nothing. And I know it was just a cellphone, but why steal a cellphone? I had it disconnected, they didn't have the charger, and they charged a bunch of money worth of games.

Ugh. I was mad for a long time. I just don't get how people can just steal things and not have a conscience about it.

Anyways /end rant.

Sorry that happened to you :(

Personally, I never had a theft story, but in some ways it's not something to be thankful about because it's bound to happen someday (I know this) cause I leave my shit everywhere and don't pay enough attention to it. I always think that it'll be okay, no one will take it but yea, I need to be more careful.

I had my handbag stolen on public transport once... along with everything in it: my mobile, my purse which contained cash and all my cards, and my house keys (this meant changing all the locks as my diary was also taken with my address in it)

So I can relate to this... it's frustrating. At least they tried to use the cards and gave police a good lead.

My sister got my car after I had bought a new one. Parked in a parking lot next to where she worked, came back after work to find all her cd's and the CD player I bought for it were missing along with 2 windows smashed. They caught it all on tape but couldn't do anything about it. I kind of see it unjust tin a way that they won't show here the tape but I guess it makes sense.

Someone broke into my car once and stole the CD player out of it. And then locked my doors.

Thing was taped onto the console, anyway.

Something else crazy happened!!!

My friend's cell phone was stolen and the girls who stole the phone, called my friend's mother and told her that her daughter was in a car accident, was rushed to the hospital, and died on the way. Who does this!?!??

I've had a purse stolen twice and my wallet taken out of my purse. It's funny, I actually got he wallet back. I went into the same store a few weeks later and an employee recognized me. She said they had found my wallet thrown into a basket. Everything was in it except the cash (which was like $10). The guy (I saw him) didn't take my credit card, bank card or any ID. Just cash. My thought was that maybe he was really desperate and not normally the type of person to steal. That is all I can figure.

I left my check card in the ATM at my work. If theres no actiivty for a minute it spits it back out. Im used to doing fast cash, so when I get my money & receipt I figure I'm done. Well, I walked away with my card in there and then taht night realize my card is gone. Someone took out $200.

My bank refunded it, but the worst part is I had to walk right by the person, and it could have been someone I work with (though just as likely not.) It just irritates me.

my fake IDs (expensive!),
I lol'd at this.

I've never had my purse stolen (I don't carry one), but there was a night where I was working drive thru and some crackhead jacked this lady's purse right out of her passenger seat window. It was pretty messed up. They eventually caught him though.

Sorry that happened to you. People are stupid. I have never stolen anything. Well except change from my dads car lol I have yet to have something stolen from my purse. I have had my house broken into though. They took everything and pawned it two blocks away. What morons pawn stuff from a house 2 blocks away. Idiots! My SIL has also had her car windows smashed after having it in valet parking. Shes a med student so they took all her expensive books, equipment, gps and pain killers because she has alot of medical problems herself.

I'm sorry all those bad things happens to everyone. In the early 90s my checkbook got stolen when I moved from Miami to New Orleans. I didn't know about the damage until a few years later when I tried to buy a car and my credit was just awefull. Well, the damage was about $150.000,- and it took me many years and many hours with lawyers to get my credit straightened out.

my best wallet stolen adventure was when I was out of town on a business trip... and had met some people for dinner. my purse was next to me and at some point during dinner, the waiter knocked my purse on the floor when he was refilling my water glass... he returned it to where it was and I didn't think anything of it... Til I tried to get my wallet out to pay for dinner.

My wallet was gone...

In my wallet was my ID (which I was going to need to get back thru airport secuity on my way home) my credit cards, which I needed to check out of the hotel with and my cash card, which I needed to get cash with because I had exactly 3 dollars in my wallet.

In the 30 minutes it took me to get back to my hotel and start making phone calls - the thief had used my debit card to run about over 1000 dollars worth of charges... I had to borrow cash from the client that I was at so I woul dhave enough money to get home... I'm lucky I flew often enough that airport security knew me so my not having ID wasn't questioned too closely... and the hotel I was a regular at so my explanation about why the card might tilt wasn't an issue...

Wowwww..I've never had anything really huge stolen, but one time right after my grandpa died my brother threw a party with all his close friends and we had an hidden cash stash that had written on the envelope- "grandpas funeral."
Some jackass, one of my brothers "friends", jacked it, and partially burned the envelope which we later found in a those tower things for cats that we had in our house hahah.
But yeah, people are assholes!

When I still lived with my parents, I had a few friends over one night. Some random dude was tagging along with them too. A couple of my friends knew him really well, but I had never met him before. Anyway, my parents always kept a crap load of rolled up change inside of a leather bag, which sat in the dining room. The next morning, my mom asked me who stole the money. I was like, "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Well, somebody stole over $400 in rolled change from my parents' house that night and none of my friends would admit to it. Obviously, I thought it was the dude I had never met before (and I still think it was), but my friends said that he didn't do it. Stupid idiots.

Oh, I have a question about your situation...

If you were at a friend's house, which is right next door to where you live, why did you go all the way across town to sleep on a friend's futon when you could've just stayed at the friend's house you were already at?

Yes, I'm the one doing the theft though. I'll stop by another time and tell the stories of my theft carrier. It's really all that simple. You want something and then you take it.

Are you saying that you steal other people's things and don't care how it affects them?

You make a good point. The girl that lives next door is a friend, but not a close one. Her house was packed with people and I wanted to go to bed and she was trying to get everyone out.

-Had my purse stolen, got it back nothing left (pretty sure a couple of employee's at the store actually took it) there's proof

-A couple of summer's ago there was a building thief, the building I live in has attracted some pretty dis-honest people, alot of them young, or old and crack addicts. So by the time I got here, the crack heads were almost gone. Anyways I am out of town on and off and I happened to be gone that summer, I guess there were a bunch of break ins, and yet they had keys. I was still rather ill than, so my place prob turned them away, you basically couldn't move through the hall or the rest of my space. BUT I do know someone was in here because I only ever locked the dead bolt but the other was locked as well.

-Another time same thing happened, and some makeup was taken. I've had guys steal from me, a few cd's and a couple of gift cards that were worth a few hundred.

- Dad just had his acreage broken into last fall. Kids. They always take frozen goods... They took his Harley Remote Control Motorcycle, his big screen tv..the ironic thing is he just bought those like a couple of months b4. Some antiques. Alot of the "expensive" stuff was left, cuz being kids they're not too smart. I used to stay out at my dad's alot, and I am glad I wasn't there that day. Cuz I had been just the week b4.

-Grew up in a not so great area. And we'd had our place broken into 3 times. Saw the guys that were "planning" to come back that very night (since they left a note) about how nice the trucks new tires were. The next morning the truck was lifted on 4 cinder blocks. A few years ago at this same residence, another truck with ALLLL the expensive work tools in it, was stolen in the am. Another time a bunch of guy's went through the area and smashed everyone's vehicle windows.
