Hello everyone, i need alot of help right now, i need some pure truth and no bs. I will tell you my full story and situation... When i was younger, around 14-16 years old, i was very fat... that got me depressed so i signed up to a gym started working out but didn’t really change my diet, because i thought the gym was what would get you in shape, So i lost a little bit of weight then quit the gym... i ended up gaining it all back and more. I was around 17 at this point and i said enough fucking around, time to lose it. So i gymed and restricted myself alot, i didnt accurately count my macros, but i would say at the age of 17 i was working out at least 3-5 days a week, and i was eating anywhere in between 1500-1700 calories a day. Now i did lose a substantial amount of fat and also gained a substantial amount of muscle from when i was 17 years old till 19. ( im 19 now)

So basically when i started i was most likely above 22% body fat. Now i would say im anywhere between 14-17%. Heres what i need help with...

I want to get shredded, and i feel like my metabolism is confused and slow, ever since october 2017 i havent stuck to One calorie goal, From october till december i was eating around 1800-2100 calories perday and i would either stick to it for a week, then have a HUGE binge day, or i would go 2 weeks and Still have a HUGE Binge day. So fast forward from october till this month. now last month was a bad diet month. I decided that i feel like i have a slow metabolism, for the past 15 days ive been eating 1650 calories on most days, sometimes when im really hungry i would go up to 1800, and i have had one refeed of 2500 calories about a week ago... so ive been on really low calories for 2 weeks minus that one refeed day. I weight train almost everyday, i do an hour of MMA 3 times per week. Now in the past 2 weeks i have noticed weight loss and weight gain, 2 days ago i weighed in at 82.4 kg, now im at 82.6kg. But i also noticed that after two weeks of doing this, my arms have become more vascular when i sit around and do nothing, but i dont see change in my stomach region, its so frustrating, I don’t know if i should keep going with this aggressive fatloss diet or just stop, im too scared to go up in calories because then i just don’t see results, all i think about on a daily basis is fatloss. And its sooooo frustrating! I weigh around 82.5 kg at the moment im 5’11 and im 19, I can’t even recall when the last time I wasn’t “cutting” was. I just fuck it all up with a binge every week or 2 i guess. Someone please help i need to know what to do. (I can post a picture of me before and where im at now, tomorrow)

Hi beastman234,
Okay if you want the no BS answer the first thing is that the difference between being in 'good shape' and being 'shredded' is discipline, mostly nutrition and also strength training. But its also knowledge, understanding that counting calories is much less important than making sure you get good nutrition, i.e. Macros and micros. I'd suggest you forget about calories and start thinking about how much protein, good carbs and fats a day you want to be getting in. Calories are nothing more than a rough score card. If you're getting good nutrition you will find it very hard to put on body fat because you'll struggle to eat that many that calories to go over what you need in a day, particularly given your age and the amount of training you are doing. Ever tried to eat 150 grams of protein in a day? It's not easy. So perhaps if you give us a bit of info on your nutrition that would be good. The other bit is also to forget about your weight and just track your body fat percentage and what you look like in the mirror, because if you're training a lot (to build muscle and get ripped) weight is completely unimportant. So far as the always feeling like you're 'cutting' is concerned, this is just a change of mindset and finding good nutrition that you stick to. But if you can make whole proteins, veg and healthy fats your lifestyle habits then you'll never need to 'diet' or 'cut' . This has been my approach and I've found this easiest to stick to. As for worrying about your metabolism etc and fucking up every now and then with your nutrition, don't sweat it! You're 19, there will never be a better (or easier) time in your life for you to do this. You've got about 5 or 6% body fat to lose to get ripped, which can be done in no time. As for the frustration with the fat coming off your gut last, welcome to the club! But don't let it get you down, because it will go. Hope some of that helps, good luck buddy

Thank you so much for the reply, You asked about my nutrition, well like i said... ive been eating at around 1650-1800 calories per day with the acception of one refeed day on 2500, now I haven’t touched any junk in these 15 days... the only things ive been eating were either, Whole eggs, Egg whites, Chicken breast, Salmon, white rice and brown rice, potatoes and sweet potatoes, broccoli and asparagus, cod and alot of other greens. My daily protein intake is a minimum of 152g and a maximum of 180- 200g my fats are always below 55g and my carbs are 100-160g per day. The thing is... i dont eat the same macros everyday, some days i eat more protein and some days i eat more carb in the huge deficit im at. But ive been eating clean thats for sure.

One of my best friends is coming back tomorrow from the U.K and he is staying for 3 weeks, he is relatively lean and wants to get leaner too... so we decided for the next 3 weeks we want to get as shredded as possible, should i maintain this large deficit of clean foods, and continue my intense training regime? Or should i just eat more? My goal has been to get to single digit body fat for so long now, is it even worth it?!? I want to get really lean so i can lean bulk after.
