Over the summer, I lost about 40 lbs by starving myself eating only about 500 calories a day (160 to 120), Im 5'11 and 16 years old. My mom was concerned and took me to a doctor and they said I was underweight. They are currently monitoring my weight by weighing me once a month. My current weight is 145 (gained 25 lbs in a month from an extreme binge) and I felt extremely fat and unhappy. I want to go back to starving myself but it seems harder now than ever since Ive gotten used to eating large quantities of garbage foods again and with this doctor monitoring my weight. Im willing to starve myself to death if thats what it takes to not be fat anymore. But I have to get this done fast. Im open to any suggestions.

Anthony,
I'm a certified health coach. I'm concerned about you. This isn't a weight loss issue. This is a mental self image issue and you need to see a therapist. At 16 years old, doing extreme dieting, you are harming your body internally. You are causing you natural metabolism to slow down long term. Starvation actually makes you gain weight because your body doesn't know when it will get fuel again and will hold on to everything you eat. You're still growing and need whole foods. Your calorie intake should be higher than 1500 calories right now. You naturally burn calories all day without moving. Take your current weight and multiply by 12. That's how many calories your body burns per day even if you sit all day. It takes 3500 calories to gain 1 lb. Normal calorie intake is 1200 to 1500 calories per day. Normal body weight for 5'11" is between 136 and 172 lbs. You mother and doctor are right, you were under weight.

I understand your struggle to the T! I use to starve myself and binge constantly. I spent 14 years struggling desperate to be free from the same mental hell you speak about. You do not need a therapist or a health coach. Please read my article at thediamondidea.com. I volunteer my time in helping people just like you. Please send me an email if you have any questions at all. Lots of Love and support! Carly

I totally understand and know how this feels. It is like something takes control over you and you cant stop eating even though you are full. I am hoping with the support of others on this site, that we all can lose weight in a healthy way!

What is a "certified health coach"? It sounds like a designation that I could get writing a simple test.

Hey guys! I'm really sorry for posting this here but I didn't know where else to post it since I'm new and I couldn't find any forums related to my problem. Basically, this might sound weird but I'm really worried I have parasites because I managed to lose around 12kgs (26lb) in less than 2 months without really doing anything. It's a good thing because I'm overweight and I still have a few kgs to lose but I'm worried because I doubt it's normal to lose this much so soon. All I've done is cut out sweets and junk food so I only eat meats, veggies, dairy and fruits sometimes. Moreover, I stopped drinking juice and ice tea and I cut down on milk. I also stopped eating at night. I don't exercise either. I'm happy I lost the weight but I'm really worried I'm actually sick and I'm terrified I'll have to go to the hospital and that I'll gain it all back . Btw I'm eating junk food today just to see if it's possible for me to gain weight. Oh and I feel fine, I don't feel nauseous or have diarrhea or anything like that. However, I ate a sandwich, chips and candy today and I'm still not full, I'm not hungry either but I feel like I could eat a lot more, which makes me really worry :/. But anyway, should I be worried or not? Thank you .

If you think you have a parasite, there isn't anyone on here that can help. You need to see a doctor. There are other things, like your thyroid, that can also affect your weight.

It's a juggling act. Proper foods and proper diet, is all it takes. even if you're not engaging in fitness activities, you can still lose weight by diet alone. Fitness just speeds up the process and tones you at the same time. binge eating has to stop, there are times where I would crave something soooo bad I feel like i would die if i didn't have it. But by forcing yourself to eat something that you are not craving (healthy foods), you can take the craving away by stuffing yourself with little to no calorie foods. Its not easy, but it's doable.
