Sport I consume 2 but when...

Sport Fitness
Hi, i consume 2 protein shakes on a daily basis (mon-fri). I drink the first one at 0730 each morning and then i take the other one when i get home from the gym at 1930 each evening (mon-fri)

I have read several articles lately about diets and nutrition and each author seems to have a different view on when you should consume a shake.

I will continue to drink a shake after the gym but should i change my morning shake to 1 hour (1700) before the gym or should i continue to drink it first thing (0730) in the morning instead.

Interested to hear your views and opinions on this, thanks in advance...

I like a solid protein in the morning, just so I don't get hungry 20 minutes later. The thicker MRP shakes like Met-RX would stick with me longer, or I'd add some fruit...or a complex carb like oatmeal.

It depends on your goals...but to a large degree, protein is protein, whether its a shake or a chicken breast. whole foods are usually better, but 2 shakes a day isn't a big deal to me. I often have two a day myself, one as a mid-morning snack & the other pre or post workout depending on when I'm working out and such. Right now my weight training isn't lengthy so a pre-shake, and hit the gym 20 minutes later doesn't bother my gut and its still in my system after workout.

IMO, it doesn't matter that much. I prefer a more solid am protein so it sticks with me, but some peopel just have no appetite in the morning.

A shake or a solid meal before workout (like an hour or so) is really personal preference. neitehr bothers me but some people can't take a solid meal before cardio or resistance training.

so, assuming its a quality protein shake, especially if its a whey + casein blend, its totally personal preference.
