I cant run :p

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and seeking advice.

So as far back as I can remember, back to cross countries in primary school, I haven't been able to run very far. I can sprint like a bitch for a hundred meters or so but I burn out in a big way.

When I try to run more sustainably i just end up getting puffed and flaking out after a few hundred meters, If that doesnt happen I'll probably get a stitch.

I'd like to be able to run, hell even jog, for kilometers at a time. I hear people talk about how they run 5k or so and it just amazes me.

So How do I train my body to run?

Slow down. If you can't run a certain distance at one speed, reduce your pace and then try. Endurance will take time to build up, but it will come once you find the right intensity to train at.

The great thing about running is that you really can build up your endurance if you keep practicing.

At the beginning of last year I could barely run a mile, now I can easily run three.

Just start slow and slowly build up

Google "Couch to 5k" programs. They will involve run/walk alternation to start until you develop the endurance to run for miles without walking. Follow the plan and do NOT go farther than the scheduled distance even if you feel like you can. Your cardiovascular strength will increase much faster than tendon/ligament strength and too much too soon will give you tendonitis, shin splints, or other overuse injuries. I would also suggest getting fit for a proper running shoe at your local running store. Off the rack runners can cause injury if they aren't the right shoe for you. Better to drop $100 on a quality/proper shoe than risk injury. Happy running.

I think that you should try it slowly. We know that each of every thing in this world need time to shape. But does it mean that we should give it up. Definitely not. All i want to suggest you that you need to drink lots of water. It would help you greatly and you would not feel tired easily. Try to set a branch mark where you want to reach. Just keep it mind that you need to finish your target destination by any means.

Initially if you decided that you would run 0.5 mile without stopping then do it. Keep it continue for couple of weeks. Just make sure try to restructure your routine little bit advanced level like 1 mile for per day. Keep going and one day you would see that reaching 5k would not too difficult to reach.
