I cant gain decent weight

Hi guys, hopefully i can get the right advice. I am 22, but i still have what you can say a teenager's body, like i can actually pull off looking 16. Im about 5"4/5"5 and weigh currently 110lbs. I've tried weight gaining before and it seems to work but at the same time doesn't. im currently trying again now that il be off from uni for 3-4 months, so far its been 2 weeks.

Recently i weighed myself and saw myself at 107lbs so i started a weight gain programme and need to know im doing it right. last week i was up to 112lbs but find myself burning calories faster than im gaining and now at 110lbs. i'm eating carbs and proteins, trying to target around 2000-2500 calories a day and eating regularly in small amounts. I havent done any weight training whilst doing this eating but will start that as well soon. previously i used a bench in my garage which at the moment i could only lift 40kg not sure if thats good or bad but i did various short work outs in order to not burn so much and did some occasional dumbbell work outs as well.

the problem is im moderately active, playing soccer on a tuesday and working part time for 3 days where im on my feet the whole day. im probably burning a lot whilst trying to gain weight and eating a lot. but i also find when i do eat a lot and the scales tell me im putting on a few pounds i go to the toilet (because my body tells me to) and im back down in weight to where i started. so its difficult for me to gain weight. am i being impatient as its only been 2-3 weeks? what can i do?

If you want to gain weight, you need to eat good, but eat a lot, and you need to force your body to grow, that means you need to lift heavy. Deadlifts, squats, over head presses, etc. And I mean lift heavy, you should be pulling enough weight on deadlifts that you can perform it no more than 6 reps. Same with squats. You need to tax your system so that way it is forced to adapt, and it will adapt by getting stronger, and eventually putting on weight. You need to be consistent as well, and make sure you eat enough, I mean eat a lot. no really. A LOT

If all you can lift at this point is 40kg, then yes, that's enough. Lifting heavy is essential for building muscle, but what's heavy for you might not be heavy to someone else. As long as you are lifting as heavy as you can, you should be fine.

From your post, I get the impression that you weigh yourself frequently. Don't. Your body weight will fluctuate throughout the day depending on food in your system, water retention, etc... Weigh yourself no more than once a week, maybe even longer. And weigh yourself at the same time of day to minimize any other variable.

You're definitely being impatient. It'll take time and hard work, but it's far from impossible. Lift heavy, following off of what Sup. suggested (squats, deadlifts, overhead presses) and also bench press, rows, and pullups. And, if it seemed that Sup. was getting a little adamant about eating a lot, he's right.

well said even, and yes, what is heavy is only relative to you. When I say heavy, I mean a weight that feels heavy to you, obviously not a weight that feels heavy to a professional powerlifter. But as evan said, be patient and stay committed
