Hello everyone,

I am a working executive, working long hours and addicted to fast food, usually eating while I'm in the office. I seem to eat whether I'm hungry or not and have got to a stage where I am unable to control my eating habit. Unfortunately, my weight is increasing and I'm being forced to buy clothes a size larger than normal. I can devote a little time to exercise, but is there a recommended safe way to lose weight? I've heard of all these diets, such as Atkins, that don't sound very healthy at all.

1) Reading the stickies will help a lot. 2) Deciding you can control yourself is your first step. Until you do that, you can't even begin. Even alcoholics have to decide to control themselves when they want to get clean. Good luck! :)

you sound like you have a lot of excuses as to why you won't do something..

Why will you lose weight? why do you want to?

Both posts above are excellent.

When I read your post, my initial reaction is, "This person will always fail unless they change their perceptions and values."

I'm addicted and can't give it up...

I have little time, maybe a little exericse....

Looking for one specific way to lose....

The entire thing.

Hi Kate
I think I also answered this same question in another weight loss forum. It sounds as if you are eating even when you are not hungry out of habbit or when you feel stressed at work.

You could try making up some healthy snacks the night before and taking them to work with you. For example drid fruits and nuts, a fresh fruit salad including chopped banana, melon, oranges, kiwi fruits, and strawberries. A low fat yogurt spooned on top of this mixture is a delicious and healthy treat.

Processed foods are high in fats, salt and sugar. They are also low in fibre and usually lack essential nutrients. These foods may give you a quick fix but after a short time you will crave more food!

i think your main goal should be to stop eaitng the junk food and it would probably work fine. youd lose a lot of weight that way. if you think your addicted to junk food, that is what should be fixed first.

Control your situation. Plan and prepare meals in advance and take them with you to work or at least buy a sandwich or wrap with a healthy filling.

Schedule exercise. Most of us live very busy lives but are able to exercise with a bit of planning or sacrifice.

You can make time to exercise if you want it bad enough.

Seriously.

I get up an hour earlier than I really 'need' to just because I want to have time to exercise.

Put together your food for the day the night before. If you have healthier alternatives available when the snack urge hits... you're less likely to snack on crap.

There is no magic fix.
