I am new and here is my need

I am 59 years old fat and just diagnosed with type two diabetes. I am not In shape at all. have been a couch potatoe for years. I need any advice for starting out on the road to getting into a good moderate routine and heallthier life style. I am doning a good job of following the diabetic diet. I have lost 20 pounds.I amreasonably healty except for weight. I dont want to lose musle mass a I loose weight to bring my diabetes under control. Any advise will be appreciated.
 
Regular walks and some weight training, along with a decent diet.

Weight training will spare most of your muscle while your losing weight.
