Just wondering if anyone has any Thanksgiving goals, traditions or cute stories to share. For Canadians Thanksgiving is already past, but you can tell us what you did.

Ok I will be totally HAPPY NOT to gain weight this year!I know it will be hard to lose that week so if I can MAINTAIN that would be awesome!

If my family does anything this year (Thanksgiving has been less of an event the past several years than it was when I was young), I am going to have a reasonable amount of food for Thanksgiving dinner. I am going to get flack like "have more!" or "what's wrong?" and I cannot promise that I will not be sarcastic or rude in my reply. Also, I cannot promise that all the food my parents pack up for me to take home will not be thrown away.

We'll go to my uncle's house. We've been doing this for about 6 yrs now. It's always really good food. My uncle and cousin do most of the cooking, and they are really good cooks. It's a good time b/c we all get along and don't argue.

man i love and hate this part of the year. I love the family gatherings and the cold weather and Christmas cheer, but its so hard to not gain weight. Especially when there is chocolate and food everywhere. Since im in the Christmas challenge going on in these forums my plan is to lose weight, so im going to fight temptation and win!

if I can make it from thanksgiving til new years without killing someone it will be a bloody miracle... Cannot wait for the holidays to be done... If I could slip into a coma between now and then I would be so happy...

This year (like every year) I will go to the In-Laws. I do a good bit of the cooking to keep things moving. They're all "night" people and one year we didn't eat until after 8:00PM!

Now we shoot for 3:00 and usually manage 4:00.

My older boys won't be there, they're at their Mom's house this year. Hey, I managed to use all the forms of "there" in that sentance. All spelled right! So many spellings, two too many to be sensible...oooh I did it again!

Anyway, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, all the food without the whole gift giving craziness of Christmas, Bah, Humbug!

Morning,

We pack up the kids and visit my parents for Thanksgiving...and then go to the Chinese buffet for the Tday dinner. The kids eat, there's no complaints, the dishes are cleaned, and mommy (ie, yours truly) retains her sanity.

I once (as in once, as in a single time, as in never again) cooked an entire holiday meal for my family....because my kids were so young back then, they refused it all. Mommy learned her lesson, and nowadays, mommy chooses to relax on the holidays.

Enjoy,

Barbara

4th thursday of november... :) and the followng friday is the worst day of the year -black friday -the start to the christmas atrocities... where every major store has doorbuster sales and every annoying person in the world will be out... Retail really made me hate christmas :D

Ooops sorry I was a bit late then! I guess thanksgiving must keep a lid on the christmas preparations to a certain extent..., we've already got shops full of tinsel & christmassy street lights up! I hope everybody had a wonderful thanksgiving!

I know you don't--that's why I put that option there..lol. My H is an Aussie and they are also ungrateful bastards..lmao. J/K :D I just thought it was funny--I still crack up everytime I read that option. :biggrinjester::biggrinjester:

I always make Thanksgiving my HUGE SPLURGE day, I love this day!! I love sitting around eating all the food I want to, including the desserts if I feel like it and then lazying around the day watching the boob tube. Most the time, it's me and my H and kids, My sis and her H and kids, my mom, sometimes the grandfolks, if they are not out feeding the homeless, and I mean that seriously. It's fun, I have to admit, this year one of my brothers will be here with his son too, so I'm looking forward to that. My sis and I LOVE TO COOK and BAKE, so it really is a nice day after all the food is set out and it's chow time!! OH and if it's nice outside we might step out and play some ball or something. AHHHHHH it's all good!!

I was really hoping to get out of thanksgiving and just tolerate christmas back east but alas since christmas travel plans got 86'd - I'm stuck heading east for oh so not delicious turkey ... the good side will be my sister's demon spawn will not be there - now I just need to talk my brother and his wife into going to my parents to make it bearable...

Flyin home to spend time with my family. Thanksgiving is the biggest holiday in my family. My immediate family is spread out all over the US, but everyone always comes home to the midwest for it. My east coast rap obviously wins out over the others' west coast flow.

I plan to bring a case of different local red wines back, and after dinner, I'm gonna sit with my great uncle and taste 'em all while playing guitar till we fall asleep (it's tradition).

We all get together at my Mom's house. We eat and eat and eat.. and then play games and eat some more! lol

James, That sounds really cool. My daughter plays the guitar! She is 12 and it's so funny to hear her playing Bryan Adam's "Summer of 69 " She plays Acoustic....she started when she was 9.

We are actually having thanxgiving at my house this year. but none the less I will stay on my diet for my meal Im planning on

turkey
a baked potatoe
lots of veggies

and my grammys green bean casarole oh goodness its to die for

I also find Thanksgiving a relaxing holiday. Then again I've never cooked the meal before so no wonder! :D LOL

I think we'll drive up to H's auntie's house again and have a stress-free time. They met me when I was preggers, then saw me when I had lost about 15 pounds. This year I can see I'll be getting even more compliments than last year from all the regulars that show up on how I've slimmed down.

As for food plans, well I'll definitely munch on what I feel like it, but will try not to go too too overboard. Well maybe if the food is really delish...

:eh: :eh: :eh: Which is this weekend-----alone.
