How to lose the weight

hi, i am 14 years old and weigh around 170 pounds. I am 5ft. 8. I have a little bit of a large stomach, and have a little too much fat on the legs. I was wondering, what should i do to lose the belly and some fat off the legs...I normally go to my gym 4 days a week. For the belly should i do a certain amount of crunches, or something? also, are there any machines you would recomend, like that Body By Jake Ab Scissor? THANKS

Are you doing any cardio excercizes? I am a bit concerned about your weight for your age and height. Since your weight is in your legs and stomach, I think you need all over weight loss. That means cardio! It's the beginning of the summer so you can get out and swim! It's also a great time to run, hike, bike, etc.

What are you doing when you go to the gym and for how long? You can do crunches, but personally I found them too boring. I started Pilates to pull in my belly, but that's just me ;)

As far as machines go, I like the excersize bikes and the treadmill, but it's summer (at least in the northern hemisphere,) so why not run/bike outside?

hello, thank you for your response. At the gym i do a lot of arm and leg strengthening. I try to do about 100 crunches there. And on occasion i run for a bit. Also, in what way does an exercise bike help, does it grow muscle or does it burn fat, beacause im looking to burn fat. Also, what is pilates? The main think i have to do this summer i supposed is cardio. But what should i do to lose the belly? THANKS

If you do cardio you'll lose your belly it's a hard place to lose...just be patient it takes time and dedication...so be active all the time...good luck.

The bike is mostly cardio, so it burns fat. There's a Pilates topic section in this forum. It's sort of mixture of yoga and stretches, but much more. It focuses on your core muscles and makes those stonger. My usual Pilates routine lasts about 20 minutes and that's enough! I use it for strength and pulling in my "baby belly."

It looks like your routine at the gym is mostly for muscle and strength building. Get out and get active! Enjoy your youth! :D When doing cardio, it's your heart rate you want to raise.
