How to keep hydrated

When I go out for distance runs of a few miles, I have tried to take some water with me, but it's just very awkward to hold a bottle and try and jog for a while. I keep very well hydrated during the day, but like to have some water with me when I run.

I was wondering how some of you distance runners stay hydrated on longer runs.
 
Have you seen this style? They're pretty good

Any kind of small water bottle works fine. I use a half sized Specialized water bottle that came with a kid's bike. Most 10 ouncers should work fine for running. Alot of people get smaller bottles that have hand straps on the back, that way you don't have to have a death grip on it the whole time.
 
I have a water belt and also a camelback. I use my camelback mostly for my bike rides but it works great on runs too. My water belt comes with 2-10oz water bottles (some belts have more) you can hook securly onto the belt. It doesn't bounce around and I've found its the easiest hands-free way to stay hydrated.

I have a water pack I wear on my back I use when I hike and it works great. I've never jogged with one since I'm a treadmill type but I think it would work well with jogging. Since running is much faster I do wonder how well it would work for a runner though. Never seen anyone run with one on their back.

I've seen people use it in races on their back (the camelbacks). I'm not sure how much it sloshes around. The water belts are more for runners. It sits securly on your hips and theres no sloshing or moving. They're about 25-30 bucks.

Is the water belt comfortable? Is it the same kind you find for hiking or is there one especially for running?
 
I went trail running last night and thought I'd share my experience. Basically it was really hot so a little bottle wasn't good enough. So I took my big 24 ounce Polar insulated bottle that I use for biking. This one is the new style, like with neon orange highlights. Anyway, even though it was big, it didn't seen awkward at all. Up around the neck where there is a cutout for a bike cage to grab on to, the new style has even bigger dimples on each side of those. So basically I was able to get my fingers around this area and hold the water bottle like a football. It didn't bother me at all. I've tried this with several other bottles and it was really weird due to them being big, but now I think it's more of a question of whether you can get your fingers around some area than it is the actual size of the bottle. It was a little heavy at first, but if you drink alot like I do, it lightens up pretty quick.
 
I dont bother it distracts me from maintaining intensity if I get thirsty I keep an eye out for a tap or just rehydrate when I get back
 
Some people stash water bottles throughout their running routes before they run. I guess it depends where you run though.
