How to increase my distance safely

Ok guys..I run 3 miles 5x per week and walk the 3 miles 2x per week....I want to increase my distance but I seem to be stuck around 3 -3.5..I'd like to be able to do 5 to 6 miles, but the old body isn't cooperating! Any pointers on increasing my distance? How can I increase distance without injury? thanks

When I use to run, one of the things I had told to me so I could run further was, "just keep your feet moving" DON'T WALK". Even if you are moving as slow as you would be walking, don't walk. Keep your feet moving and you can catch your breath. Then get going again.

Now I couldn't run even a 1/4 mile. But eventually I was running 2 miles. (took a bit) then 4, and by the time I had stopped running I was up to 10 miles.

It takes time and determination. Just keep going.........

I would just up your distance for one of your sessions per week by about half a mile and if it starts to become a problem then go back to the distance you were doing before, or stop altogether depending on the problem
