how to get fit and stay fit?

I am a 15 year old soccer player (defense), horse rider and snowboarder/skiing, and I'm riding twice a week, and playing soccer at least twice if not more. I still don't feel like I'm doing enough though, as I have an unattractive amount of excess fat around my obliques, inner thighs and lower stomach(around/below the bellybutton). I really want to get rid of this because I want to start playing for the school and on a higher level team but I know I can't compete with the girls who are actually making it.

I want to become longer and leaner with toned, everything I guess, so I know I need cardio over strength.

I am doing about 100 sit ups every other night, before I go to sleep, when I'm not staying up insanely late for school. The other troublesome element to my life, is that I'm in the IB program which gives a lot of homework and really high expectations so there are even times when I"m stuck inside all weekend to do homework because theres that much to be done.

I really want to do a sort of lifestyle overhaul and make myself a better athlete, so what should I do throughout the week?

Monday is soccer, Tuesday is free(sometimes a game day), wednesday is riding, thursday is sometimes soccer, friday is riding and a game day. My weekends are free, and I don't think I can make the thursday night practice because I also babysit on that night.

Also, if someone has any tips on stretching to lengthen the abdominals, fix hunched shoulders and open up hips, that would be great! I'm a very gimpy person... D:

my suggestion would be cardio, because that is the key to any kind of weight loss. begin with the basics, maybe twenty minute jog five minute sprint, and build up from there on your free days. you should probably concentrate on that more than anything if you wanna loose weight.

I think doing a yoga and pilates class once a week could really help to increase strength and lengthen and tone muscles. The exercise you're currently doing is very stop-start and is the sort of exercise that shortens your muscles, so taking time to do prolonged stretching would be great. Other prolonged exercise could also be good such as a long run or cycle ride. Doing any of these exercises on a Saturday or Sunday morning would really set you up a for great day as well. Hope this helps!

Do more sit-ups and push-ups as you can. These two are really effective to burn the fat of your belly.

Sorry, but that statement is completely false, you can't spot reduce and you don't 'burn' belly fat by doing push ups or sit ups.

Badgerful - It does sound like you're a fairly active person, but adding some more cardio-type activities to your week isn't a bad idea (walking, running, swimming, hiking, etc.). These activities help to burn calories and also to increase your endurance if you constantly challenge yourself. Doing strengthening exercises can also be beneficial because the more muscle tissue you have, the higher your resting metabolism is, so your body burns more calories throughout the day, even when you're not exercising.

If you can give us some examples of what your eating patterns are like and the types of food that you eat, we may be able to find something there that is causing you to have excess fat. A properly balanced diet is important for avoiding carrying excess body fat.
