Weight-Loss How to curb hunger-pains and more...

Weight-Loss
Ok so last week I decided to try eating South Beach Diet for lunch while I was at work. So this is what I had:

Breakfast
PBJ
Milk

Lunch
Carrot Sticks with Ranch
South Beach Diet Sichuan Chicken

Mid-Break
Bag of Chex

Dinner
Salad with Italian

The next day I felt soooo hungry at work I couldn't think of anything in the morning except about lunch. I then went to Taco-Bell and screwed my diet all to hell... I don't what I should do? My day-job is an office job so I dont walk around too much, but during lunch-time I try to go walking a little in the park nearby to get some refreshing exercise, but I don't think that is enough...

How do I maintain a good reduced calorie diet while at the same time not having these hunger-pain that result in me eating at Taco-Bell to satiate my cravings?

What I do is eat the smart choice foods, they do fill you up and the are really good and not many calories. If your hungrey in between meals and thinking about food you should wait ten minutes and if it goes away then it probably wasn't hunger and if you are still thinking about it then you can munch on something, one idea that i use is those 100 calories packs, they come in a variety of kinds and they are pretty good, or just try bringing fresh fruit with you to work...GOOD LUCK

Good point, Courtney. I've noticed that a couple times where I'm suddenly starving and then all of sudden I'm not hungry. It's very strange..

One thing that has really helped me is drinking water. I was one to resist the whole drinking water thing. Took me a while to buy into it. But once I started drinking water throughout the day, I noticed it really did help curb my appetite between meals.

Good luck with your new diet! :)

In addition to the water, I like to pack baggies of chopped up veggies, especially celery - practically no calories, and they're still a little sweet to the taste. I just munch on a couple at a time whenever I feel peckish and it helps me through the day.

Wow, this site really is helpful. That is a great idea Beagle. I might start doing that with pickles. A whole pickle only has 10 calories. The pickles I eat anyways. I think I'll have some water right now as well.

I don't know why, but water doesn't have the same effect on my. I drink at least the prescribed 8 8oz glasses and it doesn't help my hunger pangs. I wish it did.

Maybe if the water had a couple slices of pizza in it?

Pickles are low in calories but super duper high in sodium, which is a factor in high blood pressure and also causes water retention.. you might want to try cucumbers instead... no soduim there.. same amount of calories

are you keeping a food journal - you might want tolook at your calories and where they are going... you really shouldn't be experiencing hunger pangs... your body may need al ittle time to adjust to a healthier lifestyle, but hunger pangs shouldn't be a part of that

Hunger pain

For Hunger pain there are more solutions...

Eat more frequent, but smaller meals...
Drink more water to flush away toxins...
If you drink herbal teas or coffee, you can get dehydrated more easy!
You can use some herbal appetite suppressant like Hoodia or Phentermine...
Don't use chemical appetite suppressant!!! Very important!

But if you eat smart, you don't have hunger pain at all...

Best regards... mr King

PS: I was PRO bodybuilder for 15 years... use lots of chemicals... but now I get smarter ;)

Actually I notice water usually makes me feel hungry. It's very strange...but anyway I also work in an office and I decided to try and eat small meals or snacks every hour and a half until lunch.

8am-toast
9:30-breakfast bar
11-yogurt
12:30-lunch
3-apple

I find it really helps keep me from being hungry and also, having something small at 3 helps keep my hunger down for 4 when I get off work and want to go straight to the gym!

I find soup or hot drinks tend to curb the appitite and are very low cal.
If i find im super starving before im going out somewhere Ill have a soup which is say 80cal and the warmth seems to make me feel like ive eaten something decent for at least an hour.

Pumpkin seeds for carbohydrate cravings

I find that eating 3 tablespoons RAW pumpkin seeds will cut my carbohydrate cravings for 3 to 5 days.
I'll sometimes get a day where I have intense carbohydrate cravings. They really get bad.
If I eat the pumpkin seeds the cravings go away the next day.
It actually takes 24 hours before it works.
But then I do not feel hungry for a few days.
This really helps with my dieting.
And they give me a lot of energy & increase my stamina, too. And I sleep better. I breathe a lot easier when I eat the pumpkin seeds.
And I never get constipated now. That's gone.

The seeds are raw and have no shells, no salt, and no flavorings.
I buy them at a health food store.
They run anywhere from $3 to $5 per pound.
It just depends on the store.

I have never found them at a grocery store.
It is worth your while to try the seeds. If they work, they work.
If not, they do have a lot of nutritional value. They are very high in zinc.
I searched for "pumpkin seeds health benefits" in the net and came up with a lot more health benefits. They are an amazing little seed.

And I also found Gatorade Endurance to be a great help. Especially if I feel off balance and jittery and hungry. It seems to take the edge off things. And the calories are much lower than soda.

Good luck to all of you. This is sure a difficult task at times, losing all this weight.
I have 20 lbs to lose by January 1.
Then I will start on the next 25 lbs.
At least I am losing weight, not gaining.

Albert Einstein, who discovered that a tiny amount of mass is equal to a huge amount of energy, which explains why, as Einstein himself so eloquently put it in a famous 1939 speech to the Physics Department at Princeton,
"You have to exercise for a week to work off the thigh fat from a single Snickers."

I searched the internet and came up with this site that shows the calories for 1/4 cup = 185 calories.
But you eat less pumpkin seeds than that.
2 tablespoons would be around 125 calories.

And the site helps you find health food stores in your area that sell pumpkin seeds:

Best of luck to you,'wishes'.
I have been losing slowly, but steadily. And the pumpkin seeds and the Gatorade Endurance help a lot.

A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit.
