How much weight?

Hello, I'm new here

And I really need help cause I'm fat again

So I haven't been training for basically 4 months but I've used the machines and stuff, I trained basically 6 months almost everyday before quitting.I've seen people who train alone, and I would like to start doing it cause I've find myself with some unprofessional trainers and I'm tired of it.

The thing is how do I know with how much weight I should do the leg presses machine for an example or any machine, I've gained everything I had lost .

My goal is to define I don't want to get big I remember how to do the sets and the repetitions but I don't remember how to upgrade weights eventually so that the workout can be effective.

I'm 5'5 and right now I weight 146, I want to weight 125. Right now my waist is 28 inches and I would like to drop some inches. I did the BMI calculating and mine is 24.3 so I'm almost overweight although I don't look overweight, I accumulate fat in my hips, upper thighs and butt, I have flat stomach . I was a runner so my leg muscles are big and that's why I'm really scared of doing it wrong and look masculine cause I'm medium frame so can someone at least help me with the machines weight stuff.

THANKS

You have to use the weight you can do. Nobody here can tell you "put the pin at 120 pounds".

Resistance training is supposed to be HARD though...so its not difficult to find your poundage on each machine.
You want the last rep to be doable on the first set. On the second set, the last rep should be a bit harder. On the final set, it should be difficult, maybe even impossible, to get the last rep completed. (I'm just using a 3 set / exercise assumption here).

After some time, you'll get through all three sets. At that point you increase the weight and start all over again working towards that next goal.

Also, its your FOOD intake that's going to determine if you are adding muscle, or shedding fat. Eat too much, you'll gain weight (could be muscle, could be fat, could be both!). Eat less than you need, fat should be burned. Starve yourself though and you'll lose muscle and fat.

Thank you so much, very helpful I just did not wanted to do anything I could regret without at least asking someone with experience. THANKS!
