Hey everyone, i just joined this forum yesterday and i can say that i havent really left it since i joined its very informative and i love the support that is offered here..

the thing is im 21 and 5'5 at 200lbs about two years ago i was at 235 but i lost 35 lbs and i dont know how.. i dindt do anything diff. just the weight left lol, but now im here at 200 and im trying to get down to 155 and i know im going to have to work hard to do it.. I think i can get the diet thing down the thing is with the cardio. Where do i start.. i plan on running like 5 days a week.. i just dont knwo hwere to start .. like 2 miles a day? then up it a mile every couple weeks? idk i need your help lol .. i also plan on buying a weighted Jump rope . prob a 5lb.

Start by doing as much exercise as you can, but make sure you have rest days. Try running 15-45 minutes every other day! Eventually you can add in some weight lifting and try more intense work outs and runs.

Remember to eat healthy :) Whole Grains, Veggies, Fruits, Protein, Dairy.. etc

Just do what you can do to start. It's hard to give you a starting point without knowing your current conditioning. I would start with 20 minutes of steady state running. Progress as your conditioning improves. Once you can run steady state for 45+ minutes, you might want to consider some form of interval cardio.

I suggest you add strength training into the mix as well.

I don't really see the need for a weighted jump rope.

Okay thanks.. yeah i planned on doing some strenght training also, when i get out of school in 3 weeks im going to get a membership to the Local ymca.. i want to do a lot of running there and lift and i love to swim to i just havent in so long i have been embaressed to take off my shirt in public :( but if im at the pool there ill be working out so ill be fine... any suggestions?

I suggest getting something down on paper. Going into the gym and just "winging it" isn't your best option. Put a plan together. How/what will you eat? When/how will you strength train? When/how will you do cardio?

It sounds like you are over-emphasizing cardio at this point.

lol i plan on putting it down on paper im just trying to find out what my options are / what things i should do.. and then make a plan from that list .. i plan on doing cardio on Mon/Wen/Fri. and strenght train on Tues/Thurs. but idk what to do on those days as for a routine i have a lot to learn.

I used to run, and when I first started I was really out of shape. What worked for me was to do run/walk cycles. I would do 30 minutes each time. The first week was I think 4 minutes walking, 1 minute running (this made 5 minute cycles, and 6 of these cycles in the 30 minute time period), and I would increase the running cycle by 30 seconds each week. So, the second week was 3.5 minutes walking, 1.5 minutes running. I did this every other day.

Pay attention to your body and challenge yourself, but don't overdo it. Start slow and work your way up to harder workouts.

The thing that is going to be hard about the diet thing is living with my family still its not like they are going to prepare their foods so that i can still eat right, ( they dont care how healthy stuff is .. and they are all skinny.. go figure)
