How much to lose?

Almost 2 weeks ago, I topped the gym scale at 304lbs. I just got on my scale and it says around 290lbs. I'll be really happy if my scale is correct. But the thing is, I've heard that for 'normal' weight loss, people should only lose 2lbs per week. I am not doing anything like diet pills, I've never had surgery, I don't smoke or drink, never had children, have no health problems(except weight) and I'm still under 20 years of age. The only thing I've changed in my diet plan is eating less, staying away from junk food completely, drinking only water and walking/running on my treadmill everyday. So would it be ok for me to lose more than 2lbs a week? If so, how much weight would you call safe to lose per week? Even though I only see this in people who have had surgery with rapid weight loss, I am terrified of the thought of having to deal with loose skin. Please help!

Your going to lose a lot of water weight at first, which is probably where most of that weight loss has come from, plus at your weight, around 3 pounds a week is ok. You want to lose 1% of your body weight per week.

I would have to say that i am going through the same thing at the moment.

I got worried when i stepped on the scale after 30 days of diet and exercise. I had lost 17 lbs. Which is about 4 lbs a week.

Considering i weighed over 400 when i started would mean that 1% of my body wieght would be 4 lbs a week.

But all i have is time. The weight isn't the goal, its a healthy life style. the weight will drop of fwith it.
