Sport How much sugar?

I have been working out seriously now for about 3 months. I just recently started to really focus on eating more protein and less junk. About three days into this I felt like i was going to pass out after working out. I caved and went and ate a cookie. It definetly made me feel better right away. I realized that I hadn't had a drop of sugar in those three days. So how much do i want to consume a day to keep my body going. What are some suggested foods to eat in order to get the required amount of sugar? BTW I am 5'9 145. thanks
 
Hmm, well thats difficult, because its best to have as little sugar as possible. Try eating alot of complex carbohydrates (oatmeal, 100% wholemeal bread etc...) and see how that goes.
 
Whoooo boy, talk about passing out, I came the closest to passing out/blowing chunks from overexertion as I probably ever have in my life today. Trying out a new martial arts school, with some tough conditioning. Apparently, I need to work on my breathing. I breathe out way too much and breathe in way too little. I gotta find my funk again.
