How much protein to take

Hi all
I'm joining the local gym in January and would like to know how much protein i should be taking along with a healthy diet and obviously exercise
Just a little about me so you can get a decent picture:
I'm 18
I weigh about 15 1/2 stone
My goal is not to get bigger (i.e. bodybuilding size) but just to lose fat and increase muscle mass and tone (beach body)
I currently have quite a healthy diet with 3 meals a day and 5 pieces of fruit (mainly bananas)
I'll be working out 7 days a week, training in the gym 3 times (monday, wednesday & friday) training for rugby twice (tuesday and thursday which are both relatively light sessions) and then playing rugby matches on the weekends.

Any advice on how much protein, when to take it and also just any other advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers in advance

You need to consume 0.8 grams of protein per pound you weigh each day

you are very active - you need to think not only about your protein but also about carbohydrated and good fats. 0.8 of protein is good - mainly chicken, eggs and dairy - add brown rice and olive oil and you are good to go! dont train too often 3x a week is good- your muscle need time to grow and they do it while you rest - so you need to give them enoguh time to get bigger.

Rob, the numbers listed above are correct but to do this you dont need supplements that are super fast absorbing. Whey protein can make you lay down body fat quite easy - unless your wanting to put on quite alot of muscle, you can get all the protein you need from a decent diet (do include animals in that though). Whey is really not going to help if you have fat to come off. Casein in small doses would be an option but use very sparingly. Try just keep to good clean diet.
Jon.
