How much inch loss have you/someone you know experienced following the New Rules of Lifting for Wome

Hi, I'm new to this so forgive me if I'm a little naive about anything.

I'm 19, and looking to lose about a stone and a half to go from 11 stone 5 lbs to just under 10 stones, but seeing as I'm now embarking on lifting/exercise to lose weight, I suppose it's best to talk about my weightloss goals in terms of size as opposed to weight... Well, I'd like to go from a UK size 12/14 to a size 10/12, and was wondering what others' experiences were with this programme, whether it's any good or not, is this just for getting stronger, will it make much of a difference to my size...?

I've tried almot every diet in the book but they never seem to work for me so I thought I'd try my hand at weight loss through exercise.

Thanks in advance!

Hey and welcome to the forum!

Can you provide a few more details about what this diet/exercise program is about? What type of exercises, frequency, etc.? I googled it a bit, but specific information seems to be on "lock down." I'm sort of getting the sense that while the book is called "New Rules" it's probably actually using some "old rules" that have been around for a while for men, but just haven't been applied to women at the gym - lift weights, and lift heavy enough to actually gain strength! I like the line about "putting down the Barbie weights..."

If this program encourages strength training at least 3 days per week, focuses on compound movements and progression to eventually lifting heavier weights as you get into the program, then I would say do it, but don't focus on the number on the scale. Focus more on how your clothes fit and whether or not you're approaching that size 10/12.

I don't normally utilize magazine articles for information sources, but I thought this was a good article in terms of encouraging women to start strength training, or change the way they train in the gym:
