so i am relatively new here this is my 4th or so post. after looking at some diaries and what people are eating day to day i think i am selling myself short and i know not eating enough can be just as bad as eating too much because you body will go into shock and start storing fat...

my sample day

b... slimfast
l... slimfast
s... piece of fruit
d... 1 pork cutlet @4oz, sauteed mushrooms, californa blend veggies, small salad with vinegar and evoo

since dieting i have not eaten dinner past 6 pm. (i am normally a big snacker, especially when watching tv)

i have been working the same program since jan 1 and have lost 5 lbs as of 2 days ago. i know it is working but will it continue... i just bought an eliptical and now my excercise level has gone from sedentary to quite active... i am excercising and getting on the machine everyday. any advice would be appreciated!!!

have you used a site like or to record your calories -

consistently staying below 1200 per day is not going to be good for you -and it doesn't look like you're close to that.. the more you weigh, the higher your daily caloric intake would be --
 
I would recommend cutting out at least one of the slim fasts and replacing it with a breakfast or lunch that has plenty of protein and fiber. Also some fruit would help to give you vitamins and antioxidants that the slim-fast doesn't offer. Good luck and congrats on the weight lost so far!

Yea, you are definately not eating enough. You need more protein, some complex and fiborous carbs and add some good fats. Drop the slimfast too.
 
that might work in the short term, but how long can you eat like that? drop the slimfast and find some healthy options you can deal with for life.
 
What I did... which I am not saying is for everybody... I looked at the long term and figured That I should be eating the Calories it takes to maintain the weight I want to be or close to it... so once I loose the weight I want I am already in my Maintance routine... I eat roughly 2,000 calories a day but I am 6 foot 3in and they say I should really be eating closer to 2500 cal a day at my size...

Cereal in morn with juice
snack at 10
Lunch typically Sandwich or left over from dinner plus one fruit
3 oclock snack
Dinner

than a Yogurt with Granola at night.. (FIBER) very seldom am I Hungry

once again I am not saying it is for everyone... I just thought it would be healthy and easy to transition once I am at my target weight.
 
thanks for the advice ya'll. i am going grocery shopping today and i will look for alternatives. i actully enjoy the slimfast in the am... i usually never ate breakfast so that was my "compromise" i guess...
 
Try to eat 5-6 small meals a day. every 2 1/2- 3 hours. Forget the slim fast and eat real food that you prepare. Lots off water each day.
