To grow or maintain?

What are you current goals? Gain weight or lose weight? That will play a huge role in how much you do.

hi guys

I am charlene from syria and next week I m joining fitness program. I am completely new to this thing and never had any trainings. My friend recommended me this forum that I can get some very useful help and suggestions. So I am looking for basic starter fitness session.. I am sorry If I posted this in wrong session... cuz I am new.

Thanks again...

You are not making sense. In this post you say "I am trying to grow grow muscle," and "I at least want to maintain my muscle."

Which is it?

Are you trying to lose weight or gain weight????

Please start your own thread and ask these questions there. :)

Steve, having a bad day? :(

You seem a tad snappy on the newbie...which isn't like you... We all had misconceptions when we first started out, didn't we? Not many people know the difference between developing new muscle and maintaining existing muscle... I know I didn't..

Chris sounds like he wants to lose fat and gain muscle, or at least achieve definition.. You're the more experienced one so I'll leave it to you..

Im sorry i wasnt clear, it was like 11.30 pm

Im trying to lose fat AND gain muscle. I dont care if this isnt the recommended way to do things.

The only thing i want to know is how many different exersises per muscle is needed for growth. A number will do.

thanks..

LOL.

Mind you, it is not possible to hear "tone" in one's voice over the web. Most often, the reader adds their own "tone" to the words they see/read. Which, in this case, is most definitely true for you.

I was not being snappy at all.

I don't always have to "teach" in a straight forward manner. :)

It's not a matter of this being the recommended way or not.

It's a matter of possibility.

Thermodynamics. You can't create something out of nothing. To lose weight you must be in a caloric deficit. To gain weight you must be in a caloric surplus. Can you see the problem?

Besides, nobody is going to be able to give you a single number. And if they do, they are bogus. The number is very dependent.
