How many miles should I run ?

How much should I run 3-4 days a week ? [male,22,176cm height,81 kg]

I am male,22, height 176cm, weight 180lb/81kg. Want to reduce around 5.0 kg.
How many miles should I run 3-4 days a week to reduce some weight ?
Which kind of workout I should do ?
 
can you run an hour?

most peopel can't.

how about you start running every other day and see how it goes.
 
I started running with...walking...

Well,at first few times i did long walks(2-3 hours) around the streets.My muscles hurt a bit after that but soon that pain stopped.Then i started doing long walks where i got to my destination point and ran for maybe a kilometre.Once i outgrew that,i walked something like quarter to half way to my destination point,then i ran to my destination point and also did my 1 kilometre run in there and walked back home.

I guess by now you get the idea so i`m not gonna write my whole pointless running blog.Start by little and push yourself just a bit every day.
 
How far is it to the pub and back :D

Seriously though, I like FF's suggestion of running for time. Maybe start with running for 30 minutes and see how far you get, then next time try and run further
 
it depends on loads of things, and possiblity of a stress fracture can increase if you don't build it up gradually and if possible I would advise running on the ground (i.e. not pavements)
 
Just start running and see where it goes. Remember that at first, it's all about pace, and not how fast you get somewhere or how fast you look to other people. Start nice and slow and let your body naturally push yourself to better endurance speed and distance. After a couple weeks you'll probably be up to 40-45 minutes pretty easily, then see if you want to push further from then on.
