also,

2. How many miles should a person run/walk a day?

3. How many is too many? - for an average non-athletic person

I dont walk but I will tell you swimming is so amazing when your trying to get back into being fit.
I know with the YMCA here my boyfriend is the onlyone working and my friend dont work so he pays for all of us to go. But since he is the onlyone working the YMCA has worked out something for us where he only pays 20$ a month for all of us it's amazing.

But you can get out of swimming just as much as walking. and it helps with everything. :) I know you asked about walking but I thought maybe you would like to know more that you can do too cause I would love to walk but my knee is messed so swimming is my thing.
BUT looks like your doing well GOOD JOB

10,000 steps was the recommended amount to tell if your doing this you will need a pedometer

Im not sure - but try to start small and build up distance.

I'm doing 6 miles a day on a bad day and 9-10 on a good day. Some people have been saying this might "burn me out." So far, I've been doing this for about 10 days, one day I didn't eat right and I did feel burned out, the other days, I was fine.

How soon does it take for someone to figure out that the workout they have scheduled is too much for them? Right now, my schedule feels fine. I actually feel like going twice sometimes, not that it happens, but the feeling is there. haha

Wow, swimming sounds neat! Wish I could do it but two things are stopping me at the moment 1) I can't swim (pretty major, wouldn't you say? :p) and 2) There is not pool nearby, at least not one littered with kids!

You know what there are people that will help you swim my boyfriend couldnt swim as well but now after watching me swim this boy is jumping off the diving bored lol and swimming himself. There are times for grown ups and times that kids can be in the pool too.. Most the time at pools they have lanes for people to do laps ( kids cant go in them ) but I will tell you if you can be a stressed out person ( dont know if you at ) this is amazing for stress so if you ever have a pool near by check it out:) have a great day hun and good job so far

I am stressed! lol, and going to a pool sounds like a very nice idea, but I'm just sort of scared of trying it all, and I don't have anyone to go with. Maybe in about a month or two, during the summer. That way, I can get my friends to go with me.

You know what I was the same sweetie... I couldnt go alone im on pills to help me be around people after what I went through. BUT swimming has helped me where I dont have to take the pills every day ( been 2 weeks without them ) and I hate going alone.. My boyfriend some times just cant or my friend... So I go for like a 30 min drive ( the YMCA is 2 min away LOL ) and talk to myself then I walk in there with knowing I'M making the right move and you will see everyone there is nice. I have older people that I dont even know saying how I'm there everyday and how great that is and that I'm doing so well people I dont even know saying good job or how do you do so many laps. You will have people you dont know suport you its amazing. :)

I'm taking pill too (for anxiety). I probably would have started going to the gym sooner, but I was too scared. Most people stay away from the gym because they don't want to exercise. I love exercising but I usually have so much anxiety being around people that I'd rather not go. Now, I'm on medication and I'm doing fine. I still get a little bit tense when the gym is packed, but I usually at the times when there aren't too many people. I also take headphones and try to blur my surroundings with music or good tv; both work perfectly fine.

I hope so! :)

Aww, that's sweet.

I dont even know saying good job or how do you do so many laps. You will have people you dont know suport you its amazing. :)
Yeah, its a bit insane. I always knew I could workout intensely, but wasn't sure I'd ever have the guts to stay around people for so long. The odd thing is that I feel less anxious after the workout. I also feel less stressed and less angry.

And I do hve people that support me, but I also have people (like my mother and sister) who worry about my eating habits. Due to my past, they always think "I'm starving myself" and thus, always offer me food. Every time I come out of the gym, they are like "Wanna a burger? A sandwich? Ice cream? Bagel? Coke?" etc .... etc... They usually offer me the bad stuff but I've made it pretty clear over the past few days that I'm done with fast foods and sugared drinks...
