How many carbs a day ?

Hey,

Today I had a chicken breast sandwich for lunch. The two slices of diet whole wheat bread were 50 cals each, and 17g carbs total. Is that bad ?

What's the recommended intake of protein, carbs and fats ?

Where should I get my carbs and fats from?

btw, I read the nutritional facts of ham today. It seems really healthy (no carbs, little fat, good amounts of protein, and little cals per slice), but I've never seen it listed as a good food for diets. Would you recommend it ?

I'm on about 150g carbs at the moment, more actually I'd think :s under 20g is unhealthy, and what the atkins asks.
As for the ham, anyone ? I have no clue, I'd just avoid personally :)

These are all very general questions. They all depend on certain things.

Generally speaking, I suggest getting around 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass. If you don't know this number, and can't make an educated guess, using something like goal weight might work, depending on what that goal weight is.

Based on this same number, I recommend getting .25-.5 grams of fat in. This should come primarily from the good stuff. If you don't know what that is, ask.

The remainder can be made up of carbs, fats, or a combination of the two.
