how many calories do i burn when . . . ?

I hope this is the right place to post this question. I am down to the last 15 pounds, and it is getting difficult. I have started counting calories again to make sure I'm not over doing it. However, I'm having trouble figuring in the calories I burn during physical activity. I usually figure the machines at the gym are correct, but who knows. So I've been checking some online calculators, but they all say something different, sometimes 100s of calories difference.

So, can someone tell me the "correct" way to figure out the calories you burn during physical activities? I want to be able to keep close tabs on my calories. Thanks everybody.

There are too many factors involved here..heart rate during exercise, resting heart rate, age, lean muscle mass. Then there will be other external factors for example wind resistance when you run outside, pool temperature while swimming, water currents, kinds of clothes you wear etc etc.. An estimate is all you can get.

Fair enough.

I am trying out FitDay.com, and I like it for the nutritional function. However, the activities function seems to lowball the calories burned (but again, how should I know). I think I'll keep using it and see how it goes.

Thanks.
