How Long Will It Take To See Results?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just want a few tips and perhaps references as to what I could be doing differently.
I'm 5'4" and 122 lbs. I wouldn't mind losing some weight, but the numbers don't matter for me so much as how my jeans fit. I recently got back into exercizing about two months ago. Along with that, I log EVERYTHING that I eat to make sure that I don't over-consume. It holds me a little more accountable. I try to exercize at least five days a week, though sometimes because I use a college gym, it is used for classes, and cardio is a bit hard to do outside in Alaska when it's April and we just got two feet of snow! :cuss:
Let me get to my point: I'm looking for a way to get rid of my "saddle bags". I know there's not really a specific exercize for them. I do pilates and cardio to target weight loss in my thighs, and I see a slight change, but more in my waist, and my butt. I like that! :hurray: The only problem is, it seems no matter how hard I try I have these annoying little fat pockets that won't go away. Should I be working out harder? I don't think I should be eating less, so I suppose that's the only option.
Now, I've attached a food diary which I am very good at updating. It also has my fitness routine and if anyone would like to review that and suggest some changes, I would be happy to take any opinions.

Thank you for anything!

You may be interested in Lyle McDonald's The Stubborn Fat Solution (look for a link to Lyle McDonald Books on my blog).

You have to get fairly lean first in order to effectively attack the "stubborn" fat. Having said that, there are some specific supplements/techniques you can do that may help.

Shoveling snow is cardio. I did quite a bit of that this year.

Unfortunately it's all genetic. You lose whre you lose and sometimes there are "pockets" that are just stubborn and will take their sweet time. Keep being healthy and doing what you're dong and you'll see results.

Try to lose more weight and you will lose more of those saddlebags
if you want a nicier shape for your hips, you should try the abductor exercises

hi better u go to some surgeons and take some advice from them but do some exercise daily and go to jim

Not exactly the most helpful post I've ever read! Genetics do play a major part in where fat deposits itself. You can effectively target areas by doing targetted exercises though. Toning is all about hitting your target area with high rep/light weight (resistance) exercises. Good luck and enjoy!

You can target areas to gain or strenghten muscles. You can not target areas to lose fat. I believe the OP wanted to know how to get rid of small pockets of fat.

no offense, but at 5'4" and 122lbs you're already at a good healthy weight.

I would suggest to you though, that instead of trying to "lose weight" you focus on toning up instead. Eat healthy, of course... But try weight lifting with some free weights.

..also.. aren't there exercises to work "saddlebags" depending on where she has these saddle bags.. there are oblique exercises, thigh exercises.. I'd suggest google to get you going... you can usually find videos to explain these workouts along with a written explanation.

Check out my previos post. Targetted exercises for target areas. Abs, obliques, triceps, biceps, quads etc, etc, etc. There's a boatload of exercises available for ALL these areas.

I have the same issue with the saddle bags and it's quite annoying! I also do pilates and I run and walk during the week when I have time. You can't lose the saddle bags by doing these, but you can tone them! The only way to really lose them, is by eating a healthy diet! As long as you keep movin and eating right, you'll be just fine! The hardest thing, is being patient!

Hello,

My name is Stephen Hart. I have been in the fitness idustry for over 30 years.

The thing to remember about losing weight is that it takes time. I get fed up with people saying that they want to lose a stone in 2 weeks or something silly like that.

You need to adjust your diet so that you are burning more calories than you are consuming.

To begin with that is fairly easy, but the more weight you lose the harder it is to get rid of the last few extra pounds.

Do not give up however. Keep slogging awsay at the weight loss and eventually you will lose it.

I am glad to hear you are not too obsessed with your weight, it is how you look.

It is good that you are keeping a nutrition record of how much you are eating each day.

Unfortunately I could not open your link.

Don't forget to include everything that you are eating and drinking. You would be surprised at how much a lot of people do not put in their nutrition diary and generally that is what is stopping them from losing weight.

Let me know how your weight loss is going in a few weeks time.

Keep slogging away at it and you WILL lose weight.

Good luck,

Stephen Hart

yeah, theres really no magic, its about maintaining a calorie deficit/balance. The more calories you burn, the less you have to diet (usually). Some supplements/stack can help but dont expect any magic. The composition of WHAT you eat on a per calorie basis is VERY important.

Hmm, what else - oh have fun, its a long term race!

I keep runing every morning for half hour, two month till now,i loss 5lbs,i'm 178 tall.
