How long will that take?

If I eat a calorie deficit and workout 3 times a week with compound weights?

Is it a really long process or is it relatively fast?

getting to 10% takes time, it is not a quick process, your diet and exercise need to be spot on !

there is no exact time frame, loosing fat is very individual, it will vary with your metabolism, your individual diet and the exercise you do (including how experienced you are at that exercise, the intensity of the exercise etc.)

I can appreciate that you’d like a definitive answer as to how long it’s likely to take. Sadly, there isn’t one since much depends upon a number of factors, including the quality of your diet, the intensity of your workouts and your body’s metabolism, for example.

To some degree, introducing a calorie deficit will assist. However, you need to consume sufficient daily calories in the first place, allowing a deficit to be created, whilst also preventing hunger. Failure to do so will lead to your body holding on to fat that you currently possess, as severe calorie restriction places your body into starvation.

Additionally, severe calorie restriction can lead to a slowing of the body’s metabolism.

Consequently, the calories consumed are simply utilised by your body’s various organs/systems in order to maintain your existence. Moreover, your body isn’t interested in the reasons behind the sudden severe calorie restriction (your aim to reduce your body fat), it’s simply working in the way that nature intended it.

Consider what happens when you remove oxygen from a burning fire – the flame is extinguished, as its energy source has been removed.

The same applies to your body if you restrict calories so severely, since calories are the body's fuel.

As for exercise, depending upon the weight you’re lifting throughout your compound movements, you may accrue muscle mass (if your diet is set up sufficiently), but it’s unlikely to make a huge difference in your ability to reduce your body fat to the level that you desire.

In order to make a real difference to your current level of body fat, you also need to incorporate high intensity cardio training into your weekly regime, due to its ability to utilise fat as an energy source once glycogen has depleted from the muscles.

That said, high intensive cardio should be performed on no more than 3 occasions each week and for no longer than 15-20 minutes on each occasion, due to its effect upon the body, which will require up to 48 hours recovery between HIIT sessions.

As already stated by Trusylver, reducing body fat to such a low level will take time, but I hope the above helps to demonstrate just how and why it can prove so difficult, in addition to providing an insight into what you can do help attain your goal.

It all depends on some simple variables. Your nutrition, exercise and type of exercise, rest and stress management. Those are the key ingredients to any fat loss goal. From their, eating to support your health, muscle growth and metabolism health, as well as performing higher intensity workouts, and applying optimal recovery gan yield 2-4 pounds of fat loss/week. However, it all depends on the person and body type.

If you want to make this a permanent fix, then constant/gradual improvement is the name of the game.

Hey there and thanks for posting. Good to have you here.

How quickly you lose fat really depends on what you eat really.

What worked for me was going Paleo so you naturally cut out all the bad fats.

I have been there and done it. Lost 45 pounds in 3 months.

I share my experiences. Ask me anything.

at first you can expect to lose weight super fast. more than the accepted 2 pound per week. maybe even 5 pounds per week at first but as you get closer to your goal your weight loss rate will slow down to 1-to-2 pounds week once you are less than 15 pounds left to lose
