Hello;

I'm curious how long it takes for someone who switches from a junk food diet to a healthy diet for the new diet to feel "normal" to them? How long does it take for the healthy diet to become their default way of eating?

I'm sure it varies greatly from person to person but I would still like to understand some general ranges. I started to eat very healthy 24 days ago after eating fast food and junk food for too many years. It seems even in that short period my desire for bad foods is diminishing. What will it be like in 3 months, 6 months or a year?

I am not starving myself in the least and I feel great. I don't feel deprived although certain smells or visuals can still get to me. Thanks.

Depends on the person, I'd say, and how long you've been eating junk.

I went from the soda/chips/fast food thing to mostly lean meats and veg in about a month, I'd say. Took about that long for the really strong cravings to go away. They're still there, after more than a year, but diminished and easily defeated/ignored.

I don't know that craving foods such as that will go away very soon. I know that after awhile your cravings will change to healthier versions of junks food (my "vices" are granola and triscuits). It's a matter of time and everyone has a different natural process that their body follows. Your body has been programmed to feel full after those foods by many years of teaching it that's what you eat to attain that feeling you know? It's going to take some time. But good job! And good luck! Keep at it!
