How is my work out?

I was just wondering if my workout was realistic for losing weight. I'm interested in toning while losing weight. I have a very athletic body, but I have fat over my muscles. =[ I eat normally. Not healthy but not unhealthy either. I try to keep my caloric intake at 1800.

I weigh approx 150lbs and want to get down to 135ish lbs by June. I'm female 17yrs old.

I do the same work out two days in a row and then break for one day. Am I doing it right?

  • 15min warm up at 7 incline.
  • 5min run
  • 3 reps of 10 on the leg press 90lbs
  • 3 reps of 10 on the chest press 40lbs
  • 3 reps of 10 on ab machine 40lbs
  • 3 reps of 20 on inner thigh machine 80lbs
  • 3 reps of 10 on the tricep machine 50lbs
  • then I usually run for about 15min, but for the past week I've been doing
15min HIIT 20sec sprint 9mph with 1min walk at 3.5mph

Do I need to do more cardio?? I understand that machines don't do much. I'm thinking of starting weight lifting...? I have no idea what I'm doing. I want to be losing about 1.5lbs a week.

Hello. I think for 17 years old your doing great! I think you really need to not foucs so much on calories, but what types of food your putting into your body. Your young enough that unless your eating a ton of garbage you should not have to count calories. You should post what your eating to get a better response from others.

I have been a fitness trainer for over a decade so I am going to give you the advice I would give my clients. I also uses to weigh nearly 300lbs and have lost over 80+ and have kept it off. You need to focus on compound movements. These exercises like squats, seated rows, pull-ups etc focus on more than one muscle group being trained. I saw in your workout that you had 0 exercises for your back. BIG mistake. You are setting yourself up for some serious muscle imbalance and injury. I would do circuit training for 3x a week and 20 minutes of intense cardio 2-3 days a week. If you want some more info go to

As far as my eating goes, I eat normal teenage stuff. I work at a pizza place and eat pizza a lot, usually cheese or veggie. I eat salads a lot as well. I go out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings once or twice a month with friends. For breakfast I usually eat an English Muffin... I HARDLY drink soda. I drink a lot of water. I eat normal school lunches... stuff like grilled cheese, turkey, garlic bread ect...


Wow... Now that I look at it I guess I don't eat very healthy at all! lol...


What types of exercises should I do for my back? What kind of circuit training should I be doing? Can I do them on the machines?
