How Fast Do You Gain Muscle?

I hear all the time if some one is not losing weight it is because they are gaining muscle. Does anyone of you know how fast you gain muscle. I don't have any idea. It does not sound logical to me, that you can gain that much muscle to stop you from losing weight. I've looked this up on line & have not had any luck finding information on this.

You can only gain 1 lb of muscle a week... That's the most, no matter what. And it depends on how much weights you're lifting to tell how fast you can gain muscle too.

If that is a fact (or approx.) that you can only gain a pound of muscle a week, then when people that say its OK your not losing weight, your gaining muscle. Thats just to make the other person feel good.

Yes and no...when you're gaining muscle, you're pretty much balancing out the weight loss for that week, usually. And yes, its said to make someone feel better, but not always.

Makes since. But if some one weighs 300 Lbs. & every week he is gaining one Lbs. of muscle yet they weigh the same. If they do that for 100 weeks they still weigh 300 Lbs. So to me its a big crock to say your gaining muscle. I hope maybe their be some other info some can give.

It seems to me that someone at 300 lbs would be looking to lose weight, and no build muscle. Meaning they would be geared toward doing a lot of cardio and dieting, not bulking up and weight lifting. Granted, strength training is encouraged because it helps build muscle, which burns fat, but the kind of training you would need to build enough muscle to inhibit weight loss wouldn't be something someone would do if they were trying to lose weight.
