I am 5'10, 29 years old and weigh 254lbs as of this morning. This week I got back on the wagon and am looking to drop some weight. These are the changes I made so far....

Cut out all calories from drinks
No soda, starbucks, iced tea or juice....I have replaced all of them with water. I have been downing 3-4 (.5L) water bottles per day.

Nix all fast food

No longer do I rotate through Quizo's, McDonalds and Tacobell for lunch. Now I am only eating a 6 inch Jareds Favorite sandwich from Subway.

Nix all candy
No more candy.

Since I started this on Monday I have already lost 4lbs. I want to make sure I am eating enough, but not in excess. I was thinking of something such as....

Breakfast
Special K Berries Cereal with a Banana (or single hard boiled egg with piece of toast and jelly)
Water

Brunch
EAS AdvantEgde Carb Control
Apple
Water

Lunch
Subway 6 inch
Pear
Danon Yougurt
Water

Dinner
Salad with fat free dressing
Whatever the girlfriend cooks that night...

Spaghetti
Baked Chicken with Side of Rice and Corn
Home Made Taco's
etc..

I figure with the above that I should be at 900 calories by the time I eat dinner. I believe some website I went to said I should be under 2400 calories for the day. Even if dinner is not the most healthy thing, at least I should still fall under that quota.

900 calories is way too little. Eating too little is just as bad as eating too much. You need more food during the day, and more real food - not packaged stuff or meal substitutes.

At 245 lbs, you should probably be eating at least 2000 calories per day, maybe a little more, in order to lose healthily.

agreed. thats a terrible diet. i see half the calories you should be eating. and no fats at all. 20-30% of your calories every day should be from fats. and you need way more protein. specially if you plan on working out. and you need better carb choices. i see no veggies and 3 fruits. a decent start, but add more. less processed carbs are always good, and any carb foods should always be complax based. so whole grain pasta, whole grain bread, brown rice, etc.

I think they meant eating around or under 2,400 calories for the day, but only having used 900 of them by dinner. I hope that's what was meant anyways.

Everyone does it differently, but I keep hearing that breakfast and lunch should be your two bigger meals. I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks and I can't get out of the habit of having dinner be my biggest meal. It's only a habit because I'm never even that hungry.

But yea, I hope that's what you meant about the calories and that you're still averaging around 2,000 or very close.

Correct, I think a few people misunderstood me.

By the time I eat dinner I will have 900 calories in for the day. I figure my salad that I eat with dinner should bump me to 1200 and dinner could be anywhere from 750 calories to 1000.
