How effective is brown rice to weight lose?

Rice is always part of my meal. Lately, I only eat brown rice once a day together with some proteins and fruits. I want to know how effective or if brown rice helps me on my weight lose journey? Let me know. Thank you. :waving:

Rice is carbs. It's not what you want to be eating a lot of. Eat more protein and fat. The reason people say low carbs is basically a 100% way to lose weight is because it's true.

The most important benefit of brown rice it`s making me full a lot faster than for example white rice, brown rice is very good for our bowel because of cellulose, sorry for my english if I don`t express it right way but you probably can figure out what I am talking about, but for weight loss - well, I don`t think it help much cos it`s caloric as other products so it all depends how much you are eating them, are you using sauces, sauces increase a lot amount of calories, the way I am eating rice is to add an extra vergin olive only. But I preffer roasted buckwheat, I like it`s taste more.

Brown rice is whole grains and far more nutritious than white rice. Because of the fiber and water it contains, it helps fill you up so you tend to eat fewer calories.

If rice is part of your normal meal, a good trick is to eat brown rice at the beginning of the meal, you will find you eat less of the other foods that contain higher number of calories.

As UnstopableHeart mentioned, rice (white or brown) is not recommended for weight loss. You should concentrate more on protein and complex carbs (those that are found in fruits and vegetables).

However, brown rice offers a lot of advantages over white rice when it comes to weight loss. Brown rice contains more fiber and water, this makes it relatively low in energy density. Foods that are low in energy density fill you up with fewer calories than those with high energy density, making it easier to lose weight.

As mentioned above, the benefit of brown rice is that it is nutrient dense. The process that produces white rice removes so much of the positive benefits of rice. Nutrient dense foods such as brown rice are good in that they are more efficient at making you feel full and will keep you full longer. Carbs are a necessary part of the diet, but keep an eye on the portions you eat. I believe a normal serving size of rice is 1/2 cup. So, rather than trying to cut out a food you love, try increasing the amount of other nutrient dense foods you eat. If you are eating brown rice with dinner, begin with a salad, or have a large portion of vegetables with the meal. Just be mindful of the amount you eat. Brown rice is a great carb choice.

Actually, rice is great for you and is recommended for weight loss! The problem with "carbs" is what people put on them! Take away the oil, butter and sauces high in sodium, then you have a whole food that is rich in nutrients and loaded with energy. I eat plant-based high carb, low fat. Believe me, I tried every diet out there and they all failed, however when I went high carb low fat vegan....the fat melted off. I went from a size 10 to a size 2 in a matter of a couple of months. I love my body now and I feel amazing...not to mention my labs are stellar! Being vegan is a lifestyle but its a journey well worth it. I was a lifelong vegetarian and now can kick myself for not going vegan sooner. It has changed my life! Ok so my only problem with brown rice is that it contains a very high level of arsenic (as the hull is still intact containing the arsenic from soil). I eat white rice on occasion but really my most filling meals are from the potato. So if you like carbs, you may want to try that.

If eating brown rice makes you full fast it may either work for you or it may not. There is always that golden rule "eat in moderation" just be mindful of your calorie intake daily.

Cheers!
