Sport How does "The Rock" get away with this?

Sport Fitness
I saw an interview on TV with "The Rock" (WWF wrestler and actor), and he got talking about how he likes doughnuts. He said that he always has some in his hotel rooms and when he gets eating them he usually gets through about 14 at once!

Now we all know that The Rock is a very muscley and well built guy, and we know that muscle needs calories just to exist (ie, the more muscle you have the more calories you need). So do you think this is how The Rock can get away with eating 14 doughnuts at once and not becoming fat and unhealthy?

lol the rock doesnt get away with it. may be his genetics, but the rock could be more cut. in my opinion.

yeh I agree he doesn't have the most athletic of bodies, but I put that down to weight training mostly. I think he was pretty cut back in his early wrestling days.

yeah hes a big dude though. he forsure weight trains. but he more than likely eats a generally unclean american diet. and does no cardio. seems like he got lazy, why he went into acting and stayed? i could be wrong though. when i used to watch wrestling, stone cold and the rock were both pretty cut. but they both either lose muscle and/or put on weight. i saw stone cold on david letterman not too long ago. maybe all the beer stone cold drinks :p

When my father was a soccer player, he'd could eat three big cheeseburgers and 2 beers with every meal, and his body fat had to be under 15%. Genetics + athleticism can do wonders.

I think I may have the wonderous genetics myself along with a fast metabolism, but I don't want to take any chances. I've been eating ridiculous amounts of food for the past 3 years, varying from junk to healthy, and the most that's happened is I've grown a slight gut below my belly which I need to work off.

I guess the problem is that if it doesn't go on easily, it aint gonna come off easily either.

Rock is much more bulk than cut. Also, watch Pumping Iron, Arnold talks about eating 8 or 9 cheesburgers during his bulking faze (if memory serves me correctly). You can (and should) eat outside your fat burning diet while adding mass.

in a bulking phase do u still keep up with the cardio, or do it but not as often?

The thing is, I want to bulk up a bit but still have a cut, athletic appearance. Is it possible to stay looking good during a bulking phase, or does it only happen once you've cut afterwards?

I know you can't do both, but is it possible to have a balance where your muscles increase in size and definition whilst not gaining too much bodyfat?
