How do I make running non-boring

Hey,

I was wondering how I could fight the boredom of running. My main problem is that I have to run IN my backyard. It takes 12 laps to run a mile. I try to run for 4 miles every other day but It gets so boring. My mom is having back problems and sitting in a car hurts it more than almost anything else, and since I can't drive (I'm 13) I pretty much stuck to running in my backyard. I bought a MP3 player a while back but even listening to music is boring. If you have ANY ideas at all please tell me how to beat this boredom.

Thank You

There are several ways to make running a little more fun. If you are allowed to go out on the street, I would suggest to run around the block for a change. Also, try and download new music to your MP3 more often, (Techno, dance and any up beat music gets me going). Try to get a partner to join you. When you get back in school, run on the track after school. Most school are open until 6 P.M. And another thing, take that tought of this beeing a been boring, and just think that the better you get at it, the better the results.

Another tip would be to change the way you're running. Doesn't have to be 4 miles every other day, why not run 4 miles, take a day off, then see how fast you can run one mile, day off, then maybe 2 miles. Once you start getting bored, you have to change it, otherwise you're not going to want to continue. But the truth is, running is pretty boring. Why not see if there is a track team or something you could join? If not, maybe start incorporating some pushups in at the end of every mile. Run a mile, do 50 pushups, run a mile, do 100 situps, etc.......... There's a couple idea's.
