I get cramps from running sometimes, what am I doing wrong?Do I not eat for ? hours before running. Not drink anything before? Breathing? what causes it so I can avoid it.
Thanks,
you got it ...
eat about 2 -3 hours before you go running ...
cramps happen when your trying to digest your food at the same time as running ... u can understand why ur body doesnt like that.
so run about 3 hours after you eat
and if your on a diet where u plan to eat every 3 hours or so .. dont worry because your run will boost your metabolism just like having a meal would
Makes sense...just an observation though. Just last night I Ran about four hours after my last meal, though I did have a 1/2 cup of milk just before. I am so confused, I just want to run when I want to run, you know?
yea for sure ... i get what your saying.
well if its still happening even when u run awhile after you eat then make sure you are stretching properly before your run.
for me since i usually get a cramp in my sides or my right shoulder, i put in some stretches that work those muscles.
just do a basic stretch where u stretch your hamstrings, quads, sides and even arms and back.
thanks for your info....I will stretch better next time and really should I stretch after a few minutes of warming up? Jog and then stretch or stretch and then jog,
Thanks,
Jehn
do a stretch before you jog .... especially if its in the morning.
just so u can get ur muscles warmed up for running ...
after the run .. its good to walk for 10-15 minutes to burn off the lactic acid buildup in your muscles ....
if you dont burn it off it will result in you being sore and stiff after your run ... mostly later on like the next day or so.
just dont over do ne thing ... and make sure your body is comfortable when running.
dont know wat else to say ehhehe ... good luck. cya later
In my swimming classes, I was told when ever we over sweating during our day, we get cramps. As stated above by stalefish, Stretching definitely helps.
Cramps as in a pain in the side of your stomach area? Or Cramps as in a tightening up of your leg muscles? Keep your fluid level up prior to running, last large gulping drink of water(16 ounces)about an hour and a half before your stretching session prior to running. Small sip of water 20 min before running should be ok. Replacement electrolyte type drink after your workout and after your cool down stretches. Good luck, as your endurance builds you should have less of the cramp like symptoms..
