Sport how can I tell if i'm eating good or bad carbs?

Sport Fitness
In broad terms..

carbs from fruits, vegetables and whole grains are considered "good carbs"

Carbs from refined grains, processed sugar etc. "bad"

yeah i realized carbs from fruits are good obviously, i just want to know how figure out if they're bad by reading the ingredients/nutrition info

Bad carbs are pretty much anything thats processed. If it has a whole bunch of ingredients, its probably bad.

fast food, candy, soda, junk food, etc

white bread, white pastas, white rice are things you should shy away from. Switch to their whole wheat or multigrain versions. At first you might like it, but might soon realize that they taste much better, and your body will thank you.

This article is a good read on Brown versus White carbs.

There are some differences. And, they are "small enough" for me to eat brown carbs.

Best wishes to ALL! :)

Hello all Today is the first day of the rest of my life, I have been reading your posts as I try to motivate myself to eat better and excerise more. I wish to thank Al gore for inventing the internet so I could find this site ;} actually thanks for all the great comments you have posted so far

Same with white rice and brown rice, not a big difference.

I have heard the same thing, and this may be true, but I notice a difference. After eating a white pasta/rice, I notice I always feel tired, and hungry shortly afterwards. The whole grain alternatives to these left me with no such feeling, plus you get the extra fiber. You may not like the whole grain pastas and rice at first, but you will discover that they are much heartier

True there isnt much of a difference in GI (which is very usefull otherwise huge spikes would occur), and maybe more fibre and some other things in wholegrain. But after i tried brown spaghetti a couple weeks ago ill never go back to it, tasted rediculously disgusting almost threw up ;)

You must have gotten a bad brand. Rozini is very good, but i got some other brand the other day and it wasnt so great. I wanted to vomit as well, my terrible homeade spaghetti sauce didn't really help either

Do brands make much of a difference?

I have to admit to, i mistakingly bought tomato paste for sauce, maybe that enhanced the distaste :p
