How am I doing?

Hey i'm new here, so I hope you guys don't mind me asking for your advice on my current exercise routine. I started it about 2 weeks ago.I'm 115lbs and 5foot (if that helps at all) I want to lose a little bit of weight but mainly tone up, especially my bum and thighs (i'm a pear shape)

25 mins level 3 on crosstrainer
45 (3 sets of 15) lifts on outer thigh abductor
45 (3 sets of 15)lifts on inner thigh abdutor
5 mins on level one top xp (its like a bike for your arms)
5 mins level 4 on stepping machine
60 (4 sets of 15) sit ups
I'm also planning on adding 1000-2000meters on the rowing machine, and wanting to do around 1/2 an hour on the treadmill, but i'm starting at 15 mins and working my way up!

I eat about 1000kcal a day, I know quite a bit less than women are meant to be eating but I am only 5 foot and I do eat 3 decent meals a day, so dont worry!:) Thanks very much.

Hi there,
I'm a personal trainer and I hope you don't mind me giving my opinion.
Is this the only exercise you are doing? It would be beneficial to strength train your rntire body and not just your legs. Also, adductor and abductor machines are really not very good. They're simple, isolation that int he end do not produce good results. They work your body on one set plane of motion, when in real life we are on various planes of motion. Better to do free weight squats and lunges to hit those muscles.

And your low calories scares me. People who are in a coma burn more than 1000 calories a day. Even if you're only 5 feet you should be eating more, especially since your exercising! And 3 meals a day is not enough. The metabolism takes a nose dive after 3 hours. If you're trying to lose fat you should be eating much more often than that.

Again, I hope you don't mind my opinion. I don't mean to say anything bad.

Hey, no it ok, opinions are what i'm after! Well i just dont have a huge appetite, i mean i dont calorie count so its a rough guide. I eat musli or porridge for breakfast, for lunch i tend to have a fruit salad with yoghurt or some kinda sandwich or sandwich alternative, i tend to go to the gym about 4, then when i get home i have dinner (usually a chicken or a fish dish). I snack on fruit and yoghurts and carrots in the day time, thats just how i've been since i can remember, I just don't have an appetite for anything more. Although i have read about eating every 3 hours and i try to do that, just not with meals but rather with fruit or yoghurts.

I'll give the lunges a go though, i dont quite understand the plane of motion thing but i will take your word for it!
Thanks for the advice, i'll try get more food in my diet if you think thats what i need.

Heehee, I knew you must be from England. I used to not know what people meant by porridge.
Yes, I definately think you should eat more. Try adding a couple of small snacks. Maybe some tuna fish, veggie with hummus, etc.

woohoo! england! lol. i love porridge on a morning sometimes....warm food just fills u up more/longer sometimes.

maybe if u just had a couple of extra snacks in there, then your cals would be more appropriate for your lifestyle? just a thought.

good luck! like you i am also a pear....!!

Ah oatmeal, never realised that was porridge! I've actually quite taken to hummus with crackers and grapes recently actually, and goats cheese with a french stick or salad as an extra snack. Thanks for your advice :)

Man, Rebecca, I wish I had your appetite. :p I'm hungry 24/7, I probably need more water through out the day.

:) actually i do drink a lot of water, thats pretty much all i drink unless i'm in the mood to work the juicer (but its a bit of a pain).

Porridge is just oatmeal? Woah...now I've learned something! I thought porridge was like mashed up bread in milk. That's neat though!

I thought porridge meant soup, lol
