Home Exercise Problem

Hey everyone, recently I've decided to try some of those DVD's and exercise at home, but the main issue I've run into is that I'm too tall, and I can't do any of the arm raising / jumping exercises while standing up, due to the fact that ill hit the roof....

Has anyone else encountered this issue, or have any solutions?

I see that you are 6ft4 :)

Are there any rooms in your house with taller cielings? maybe the hallway? If so - you could try there...

If not - you could go outside if weather permits - but I expect that it would be awkward to try to watch the video on a laptop or something...

Maybe exercise videos are not going to be best for you...

Anything that gets you moving is going to help you and you can go outside and jump to music without a minor celebrity jumping in front of you... Skipping is brilliant too.

You may well find that an exercise class is a good idea for you... I note elsewhere that you are considering looking at paying for dietary advice so assume that the cost of exercise is not a major issue for you. I am of the opinion that a good exercise class is better than a DVD. I have a qualified personal trainer pushing me to work hard at the classes that I go to... I go to at least 6 zumba classes a week as part of my exercise schedule. You can be certain that your height will not be an issue in the gyms and halls where you go to exercise classes... Someone twice your height could jump safely where I go...

Thanks for the advice. Recently I had decided try the exercise video's because of their "60 lbs 2 months" claim to fame - which whether or not it's true is intriguing.

I may just employ the use of jogging and whatnot, although the colder it gets the less motivation I have for that certain activity lol

I had the same problem when I started doing jump rope exercises. There is no way to do it at home.

Since you have a video to watch, I'd say slap that DVD on your laptop, and go down to the basement of your house or building and do them there, that's what I did.

Be creative and modify the exercises, bringing your arms up from down at the side of your body to shoulder height is better than not doing anything. Move the distance the space allows, something is better than nothing, 15 minutes is better than nothing.

The idea is to move more, when you say to yourself that you are creative and find ways to modify the exercises, then somehow you come up with ways to do that. Your thinking is HUGELY important.

Good luck and keep moving:)

Lol I know what you mean. As a 5ft 12" lady I regulary hit the ceiling when my arms are stretched. Workouts I've been doing at home have been ones like Kickboxercise, Just Dance, and yoga. With Kickboxercise its punching and hooks so not much upwardly stretching.

I did try skipping in the living room once and nearly took the ceiling light out. Managed to scare the dog in the process and fell over him!
