Sport Holy geezbells, is rice supposed to be this calorie intensive?

Sport Fitness
I checked my brown rice bag, and it said in a serving of 1/4 of a cup, it has 170 calories.

Now according to my measuring cup (It measures up to 2 cups), 1/4 of a cup is a dramatically low amount of anything.

The 1/4 cup line is like 1-2 inch (guess here, give or take an inch, but it's definitely a small margin) above the bottom of the glass, and I know I take in well over 1 cup of brown rice per serving whenever I eat brown rice.

So that is basically 680+ calories? omg...and this is a good omg I think.

If I count my rice calories, I should be able to get in healthy and extra calories to help my bulking.

If my measuring cup is correct (which it should be since it IS a retail measuring cup and doesn't look suspicious), then I will definitely lower my rice intake per meal down as I used to think that 1 cup of brown rice wouldn't be that high (I never bothered checking the nutrition facts on my rice bag  )

I was always wondering, is 1/4 cup serving cooked or uncooked rice? Makes a huge difference. Maybe somebody can answer this. :)

Uncooked.

Iwillgetripped, cup your hand and poor the rice into it so its nearly full. This is an adequate single serving if your eating is based around six meals a day. Pour this back into the cup and see what you get.

Personally, I find rice to be an excellent meal if I'm going to be lifting later in the day. I wouldn't suggest eating something like this as your last or even fifth meal of the day :D

The difference cooked is that...

1. Its edible.

2. It won't poison you and...

3. It won't fit in your end anymore.

Basically, rice is like pasta, it absorbs some of the water you cook it in. A 1/4 cup of cooked rice when uncooked would probably be about an 1/8 cup, something like that. If you get what I'm trying badly to say.

What otherway is there to do but boil rice? I suppose you could microwave it, but then you'd just nuke most of its nutritional value.

cooked rice takes up twice the volume of uncooked rice...hence why you use twice the water as rice when cooking it.

a 1/2 cup of cooked rice is a typical serving size...I imagine they list it uncooked in case you're putting it into something else (like soup) and it cooks there instead.
