You aren't human if you don't allow yourself a bit of wiggle room for the holidays. What is your favorite holiday treat that you are looking forward to splurging on this season? And also if you have a way of making a special treat a bit healther or diet concious please share!

Mine is pumpkin pie. I make it from scratch from actual pumpkins, not the stuff you buy in a can. I am SO lookin forward to it!

Hello fattydoll, :)

I was JUST wondering about the Pumpkin Pie from scratch myself, I would LOVE to know how you make it. Do you have a diary on here? If so maybe you might post it there.

SIGH.... I LOVE those COOKIES my Grammie used to send me, but now my Mother does, although this year I asked her not to. Last Year she made me these Yule Log Cookies, they were pretty cute, and I usually would get rum balls, Chocolate Rum BallS!!!! NUM-ish. Sugar Cookies, & Shortbread Cookies, and other different configurations of cookies.

I know Yorkshire pudding isn't a dessert (maybe) but I really enjoy it!

EGGNOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We only get 6 noggy weeks a year until the Government comes and takes it away. I will make sure to indulge.

Nuts. Any kinda of nuts. Especially cashews, and almonds. Piles of calories, because I can't eat just a handful, but still better than chocolate and cake I think :) Unfortunately, I especially love the ones coated in honey and spices - had some honey and cinnamon coated cashews a few days back, and they were just delicious. And full of calories. *sigh*

Hey RunningGirl!

The pumpkin pie from scratch is only different because I bake and puray (spelling??) the pumpkin myself. You can't use the big halloween pumpkins because I just don't think they're really meant for baking but if you can't find the little baking pumpkins in the grocery store butternut squash is actually the equivelant and you won't be able to taste the difference. Alot of the times the pumpkin in a can stuff has butternut squash mixed in with it. Same cosistancy, just about the same smell, and equally delicious.

Yea haha I noticed, lately the last couple of years though, they've been coming out with it earlier & earlier, found some a couple of weeks ago!!

I completely forgot about the nuts too! We have a special nut bowl for Christmas & and all the little nut crackers & pickers that go with it. YUM.

Hello Fatty_doll,

Puree (the lil tick thingy is above & after the second e)

Sounds good. I really like Squash, especially lately. I just bought (for the first time in my life) Pumpkin in a can!!!

I am wondering if you may know too whether or not, I've heard that some of the pies, their Pastry & crust is made out of the rind of the pumpkin too?

Thanks Again! :seeya:

no I haven't heard of that though.. I haaaave however heard of pumpkin pie made with a graham cracker crust instead of regular pie dough. I plan on making one that way this year, and another with the norm pie crust. I'm salivating just thinking about it.

My holitreats are:

spinach pie (what the Greeks call spanakopita) with homemade pastry;
mud cake or cheesecake with glazed strawberries on top;
lamb on a spit, picking off the meat as it goes round (VERY high in fat hehe);
rumballs (with an actual good hit of rum);
roast potatoes done in turkey dripping....

I could really go on here. I could....
