Keeping track of one's exercise, food and calories eaten is a great way to monitor one's progress and keep oneself accountable. To start things off, the first week's bonus will be to keep a journal/log of your daily calories and exercise. You should also list the foods you've eaten. Fitday.com and Sparkpeople.com are two great places to this online. But you are welcome to keep a written journal as well. You don't need to post your journal here in order to get your pts.

Put a * for each day that you do the bonus. You'll get 2pts for each day that you do.

Don't forget to get in 3hrs of exercise during the week! :)

OK * for the bonus each day and for exersice do we just record minutes each day like * 30 MIN,*45 MIN,?

So I just come here and post just an asterisk? No explanation? I am confused....I've never done this before. I am going to go look at other challenges and see if I can figure it out.

Okay, I think I figured it out.

I don't put an asterisk here, I put it on the challenge main thread by the week I do it. And I put one for every day I do it. Yes? How do I mark exercise?

And I do not copy and paste the stats form each time to a new reply, I just edit it there on the front page. Yes?

And then each team also starts a thread? And that is just for communication and encouragement but not for keeping track of the bonuses and exercise.

Am I way off or getting the idea?

For the bonus you put * for each day you do it. For the exercise, you just put Y or N for yes or no--yes if you exercised a min of 3hrs that week, and N for no if you didn't.

Yes, you update your post you copied and pasted by editing. And that is where you put the * for each day of bonus completed. There are no teams until week 4, but I'll start a separate thread for communication, etc.

Woot! Week 1 bonus "should" be in the bag for me- I track all my food and post it in my online diary here on the forums!

For fun I may also note just how many minutes of exercise I do in a week in addition to the Y that I plan on recording! :hurray:

You biatch! She introduces this just when I stop calorie counting after a friggin year of dedicated cal counting! Ha and Bah (to use a MGBism).

But I'll do it to get my POINTS!

Yeah, most of us "old timers" already do this. But there are lots of newbies and some old timers who don't (or some like Blancita who did but stopped..heehee).

Everyone should feel more than welcome to list the total amount exercised along with their Y or N. Just remember that unless the bonus is for additional exercise, you won't get any extra pts for anything beyond 3hrs. :)

This is a perfect bonus challenge for me! I was tracking everything I ate religiously but have slacked off lately... like today I got in breakfast but then haven't gotten back on sparkpeople again... bad gal! This will give me the extra push to get my eating back on track & focus on the calorie counts.

Thanks for doing this.

No problemo. I am pretty religious about keeping my diary, but on days when I'm naughty with my eating, I tend to stay off fitday. So this should keep me on track as well. :)

this is starting NOV 3rd right or when ??? do we post it here or where

Yes, it starts Nov 3rd. You post your stats in the sign up thread. You just edit your post. I saw that you've already copied and pasted there. So that's what you edit to enter your info.

This will be good for me as I just started keeping track of everything and I mean everything in the last 3 days!
Thanks for heading this up Kimberly!

I just want to remind everyone to edit your stats post and log your current weight and challenge goal weight there. Your challenge goal weight must be at least 3% less than your current weight. To figure this, multiply your current weight by .03. Then subtract that from your current weight.

Ex. if your CW= 200lbs X .03 = 6
200-6= 194
Your goal weight must be 194lbs or less.

Please have this logged by 11pm (Eastern time, GMT-5)Monday, Nov. 5th.

Calories

The first week bonuses are real challenge for me. I am one of the people who hates counting calories. But I will put lots of efforts because it is very helpful. I already realised that I am getting too much calories on the first day by pinching here and there from foods which have too many calories. Thanks for managing this competition for us Bikini :hurray:

I know, counting calories is a pain, but it's the best way to make sure you're eating where you should be. :)
