Hey everyone!

I'm a college sophmore and I decided to join this forum in an attempt to kick my butt in gear to lose some weight. I would like to lose about 50lbs. I used to weigh around 265 but then I lost some weight at got down to about 180, currently I'm at about 210 or so (we'll call it the freshman 30  haha). (Also, I'm about 5'11" if you're wondering). I'm not really sure what the "ideal" weight for me is since I've always been kinda heavy. For right now I want to concentrate on motivating myself to exercise and eat healthier. My biggest problem is definitely the exercising part, any ideas for motivation in that area? It's lovely to meet you, and thanks a bunch for any help!

Hi and welcome!
If you haven't exercised in a while maybe you should start just by walking...or jogging? I myself like spinning classes, although my "WEIGHT" hasn't really dropped too much, my clothes feel much better... probably dropped a size in 8 weeks and lost 5 lbs.
Good luck to you.
Try reading some of the diaries... Jellybelly has a good one. She lost about 15-20 pounds since March. She is just eating the same foods but in smaller portions...and exercising... read a few diaries and start your own to see your small changes, and to keep yourself accountable.
Best of luck to you!:D

Welcome, Georgie.

I think the right weight for you will be when you feel comfortable. Pick a goal and if you feel great before you get there then you have lost enough. Good Luck!

walk

I strongly suggest walking! It's easy, free, and you already know how to do it. Walk at least 30 minutes a day, at least 4 days a week. Just make a commitment and stick to it. That is the only way to get it done. After you have added this amount of walking to your routine for a few weeks, add other forms of exercise if you want. By then, you will already be stronger, healthier, and able to do a lot more! 6 weeks ago, I felt like I couldn't walk around the block I was so tired. Now, I walk about 2 1/2 miles in an hour, 4 times a week. Every step you take will make you stronger! Just move. :)
