Hey all, I'm new here =D

A little about myself;
Err.. I'm female, 18 years old, 5'5" and at 175 Pounds :(
Well I just wanted to lose weight in 1 year before I go to college lol
So far I've started dieting/exercising for about a week now (started on July 26th 2006)
And I was hoping to lose weight in this year and look good for next year ><;

I'm eating 5 times a day small portions of around 200-300 calories each.
I'm watching my carbs/fat etc.

and I exercise everyday for about 1 hour each day.
:30 mins of weights/ab workout
:30 mins of walking on treadmill

I don't know if this is enough to lose weight in a year.. =/
I'm trying to get to around 120 Pounds, so I need to lose like 55 Pounds :(

I'm also planning to get an exercise bike, probably a recumbent bike but I'm not sure if it's better for losing weight than a stationary bike? :confused:

Erhm if I get my bike I will add another :30 mins to my workout each day so in total I will be working out for 1 1/2 hours each day..

Well at least this is what i'm trying to do this year.. ><

Well see y'all around =D

Welcome to the site!

sounds like you're getting your ducks in a row for your exercise plan!! it's great that you're dedicated to getting into shape. good luck with it, and welclome to the forum!

We brought a bike too but neither one of us care for it...hurts our buttocks after a while. We have even brought a better seat same problem...might work for you fine...neither one of us felt we were burning that much stuff anyway. The tread mill with leg weights and caring small weights seemed to work best for both of us...Mike

Thanks all =D

Yeah I have a treadmill also but I don't know.. I think it's broken or something >_>' It gets slow when I walk on it and after like 30 minutes it has a burning smell and gets super slow lol.. When I step off it it suddenly goes really fast o.o' maybe I'm too heavy for it o_O'
I don't know what's wrong with it, I have it for a year now and haven't been using it alot until now lol

Maybe it doesn't work so well because it's cheap or something lol I will ask my parents tonight how much they bought it for because I have no idea >_>'

Two things will cause what you are talking about and it is a simple fix. One is either ther main walking belt is so loose it slips or it is so tight it is putting to much strain on the main drive motor. The second part is remove the front cover and look at the main drive motor and you should see a belt about a inch or so wide. On some tread mills there is an ajustment to tighten up this belt. If it is real bad some auto stores carring a belt or take the model number down do a Google search and buy the belt on line. I know it sounds like a lot of trouble but it is really not. If you aren't using it anyway if ya screw up what have ya really lost..Mike

Sounds as though you already have a sensible plan. You might want to make sure that you have some regular relaxation days - it will help those muscles grow. Keep those five meals per day nicely balanced with good nutrition and there is no reason that you should not hit your target easily within a year.

You could also if you wish consider starting an online diary on this board - it does help keep the motivation, and we all give each other support by visiting each others diaries - its also nice to have a record of all of your achievements - and those occasional downfalls.

As for the static bike - I hate them, but use one to warm up and cool down at the gym at the beginning and ending of a work out. One hour a day is fine, and will probably give you the best value results.

Good luck on your journey!
