Hiya hiya hiya

Hi guys, just thought I'd introduce myself (seeing as how I've already been posting like mad lately).

I found this site because of a link someone posted in these forums to my site (check my profile). I run a retail supplement store in San Jose, CA and we're on the web too. I'm fairly new to all the in-depth details of fitness, but since it's becoming my career as well as something I do for myself, I'm picking up really fast.

I'm training right now to be NSCA certified, I take my own medicine (so to speak), and even though I'm really crappy at biology and chemistry, I like to know exactly what's going on in the body where training and nutrition is concerned.

I already see that there are some very dedicated people on this forum, and that always makes me happy (the ones that come to mind right now are "rip", "spockafina", "abear", "aevans410", "evolution" and "malkore" -- excuse me if I overlooked you) so I look forward to learning more with you all, and contributing a few things of my own.

*Welcome!*

Welcome to the pleasure dome!

:)

And, thanks for listing me along side the GREATS!

:)

I have been considering certification also (ok, ok... I know I am CERTIFIABLE!) Anyway, I would like to help other with nutrition, workouts, and wellness type stuff. I have even considered opening my own dojo that teaches all of the above principles. What made you decide on the NSCA? What are you planning to do with your certification?

Fil, I thought you had a forum on your website? I cant find it I was going to check it out.

duh never mind, I didn't read that first post correctly

Reading comprehension > me obviously :)

We're thinking about it, but right now we're busy with other things and features that we're setting up. Top secret, hush hush.

That would be awesome. If there's one thing we need more teachers of, it's good nutrition and health -- especially outside of the gym setting. Anytime you can use your unique abilities to run a business, that's A-OK in my book too.

As far as NSCA, I initially got into it because my partner was NSCA certified, and he assured me that it was one of the more "elite" ones out there. Rather - it didn't leave anything out. Looking at their reading material, it's true. I might as well be an M.D. after getting through their training. They even teach you how to set up and run a gym!

I've looked at a few other certifications, but a lot of them look like "quickies". I think Bally's will certify you after studying with them for 2 weeks. My local community college will even certify you after taking 3 classes or so (which you can in a single quarter). I'm sure there are other legitimate ones, but I have someone who has already been through this process with this particular organization, so that smooths it out a bit for me.

As far as what I'm going to do with it -- train people, probably. Honestly, I won't have much time in between running my businesses and working out myself, so right now it's mostly for the knowledge that comes with it, and the credibility it gives me when I give health advice to people.

hello and welcome :)
